Lots of good recommendations, thank you everyone.
I am leaning twards the NiteRider MiNewt Mini 350 Plus Light
Cygolite seems to be a runner up.

I handled the Minewt pro 750 today at a shop, only because they did not have the 350. Liked how it felt solid and the bar mount did not seem too bad. Looks like this is the 2013 model so not too many places look to have it. But do see it on Amazon for 89.00. Anyone else with other experience with these?

Something about the Magic Shines or a tactical light do not appeal to me. I have considered the tactical lights but more as a backup. With the rainy riding, it would have to be totally waterproof.

Having been a NiteRider user for years now I know you'll be happy with either the 350 or the 750. Build quality is high and their customer service is excellent. It's a well established company with a great rep.

I'm about to test out my 2 Rayovac Indestructible 3 C Cell lights I have in a day or so. I'm going to pop 'em on my handlebars and take a little nite ride on the bike trail. They're supposed to only be 140 lumens, but seem quite bright. I'll see how they fare, then post an opinion. I'll probably take a pic or 2 with my Lumia 900 and post it here (or maybe my first YouTube video???).

Anyway, be back in a day or so,...

Do you happen to know the runtime on the 6 cell light?
more data .. battery amp/hours versus light load in watts

Ohm's law.. I = e /over/ r

I is amps, e is volts, r is resistance (w).

This is the $20 flashlight with a 1.75 two fish clone mount, on my helmet. I usually have a light on my helmet and 2 on the bars. The helmet light is able to be the only light as you can see.

These are $20 flashlight mounted with $1.75 each mounts on the bars. BTW, only one of them is on!!

This is one of the $17 lights, and you can see the $1.75, U Mounts I am using. To give you idea, everybody gets out of my way, and all cars give me mucho respect. I have had cars wait a half block for me to pass before they turn in front of me. BTW, in the daytime they are on blinky, just as awesome..

As you can see I got a low, low, super low budget, and pushing big lums..
