I've been collecting merino wool and cashmere tops over the past few years and this week, all I've worn is wool. Weather in the morning is low 50's F topping out in mid-high 60's F. It's more expensive, but you can sometimes find inexpensive merino stuff at Costco and Sam's Club, and on sale at the GAP and Uniqlo. Pick conservative colors and styles and you can wear them for years w/o looking out of date at work.
