Does this slot in my gloves serve a purpose?

I'm not sure where to put this thread, but I figure commuters will be the ones most likely to use/know about gloves.

I just picked up a pair of pearl izumi winter gloves from my LBS and noticed there's a slot in them. I'm just curious if its just randomly there as a result of how the materials were put together, or if it serves some purpose that I don't know about?

I've included a picture, with a pencil in it. I'm guessing it's not meant to hold a pencil, but I wanted to show depth. Maybe it is meant to hold a pencil for when you are inspired to write a haiku mid-ride, but then where do you keep the paper?

Looks like it's just a tab to help you pull the second glove on with your other gloved hand.

I think he is asking about the sleeve like "slot", not the tab.

Could a snack be stored there? I suspect it would need to be something long and slim. Maybe a Slim Jim? Any chance Randy "The Macho Man" Savage was in on the design / R&D process?

Maybe it was meant to store some type of defensive weapon? Of course I have also heard that trained spies can kill a man using only a pencil.
So, we are back to it being a pencil holder.

Maybe a place to store some rubber in case a babe decides you look hot enough to do it right here, right now?

My Guess: They sewed the edges of the tab to the Glove gauntlet.
that slot is a side effect, , not a feature.

Well, hello Inigo Montoya, I believe you may be particularly qualified to answer the OP's question as you have a studied you agrippa.

Exactly my thoughts. Not all aspects of a design are for particular functions, they are just by products of the construction. Some people worry too much.

Good news is the internet is a mecca for enlargement/ED. Somewhere, someone has a pill for that!

And, just about everyone with a pill for that emails my spam mailbox daily. Sometimes several times a day.

Makes me wonder if my wife visiting internet sites which would trigger this type of activity.

Isn't that where they put those victory cigarettes? Them funny looking ones you smoke after a long ride?

If that glove was for motorcycle use I'd guess it's for the wires for electrically heated gloves. Does PI make anything like that for bicycles?

Don't underestimate shrinkage; these gloves are normally used when it is very cold.
