I ride a roadbike to work. 10+ miles each way. I really don't care what type of bikes other people use, as long as I see someone on a bike with a smile on their face (or a grimace depending on how hard they are working), I'm happy with that. Perhaps the user in the OP is trying to talk themselves out of buying a roadbike? I have a roadbike, and a hybrid. Hybrid sees maybe 50 miles a year. Roadbike sees about 7,000 miles a year. I do not want to ride that hybrid 7,000 miles a year. To my grocery store that's half a mile away is fine though. It's not worth as much as my roadbike anyways, so I feel more comfortable with it being in the open in public (either locked or unlocked).

They made a quick stop in Brussels. Why do you think they went around the Maginot Line instead of through it? Side trip for Belgian chocolate, of course!

There is no problem. You should ride the way you like.

Yeah, that.

I think it would be really great for the economy if we went around the country city-by-city, razed each city and its surrounding suburbs and then rebuilt them properly.

Think of the jobs that would be created...

Actually, I think it's sort of happening on it's own, - though slowly. There's been a reverse migration from the outer rings suburbs back to more urban areas. Not sure if that will be an ongoing trend or just a blip.

It must be good because it's what the German bicyclists drink, right?

My observations from the bike racks at work:
In July it's close to 50/50 drop bars vs flat bars.
As it gets colder the drop bar numbers... drop.
This week with snow on the ground - zero drop bars.

Here's the real thing:

Although...if you just have a slice at the cafe, every slice has the silly little medalion on it, versus just one medalion on a whole cake...

As for beer...nothing beats sitting outside in Partenkirchen and having a Weisswurst and ein Mass Helles. Usually Paulaner? ...but, Acid, you can keep the Trachten!

I like beer and I like fruit and I like chocolate but I never mix any of the above. Girls like fruity beer. I don't get it.

...which is what I pictured.

A co-worker turned me onto this a couple of years ago when I was in Munich. At first I was thinking, "Why would you want to dilute your beer that way. Then I tried it, and I was very impressed. It took a while, but I finally convinced a local market to stock Stiegl Radler. I've got one in the fridge now waiting to be enjoyed.

"radler" literally translates as "cyclist" and man does it taste good riding down the Austrian alps back toward Munich on a hot summer afternoon.

as long as you don't drink an American light "beer", it's OK.
