A very nice ride. No close calls.

I'm getting better at filtering to the light, too.

Drove today, ironically due to a bike related activity after work. Going to a wrench party to assemble and fix bikes for homeless kids. Unfortunately, it's right after work and about 20 miles out of town. Fortunately, there's an In-And-Out on the way.

First day that I needed the gloves. Swapped them at the halfway point for my cycling gloves. Got out of the house early this morning and then figured out why: I forgot to shave! No worries, I keep disposable razors in my desk. Yes, I am an anomaly: clean-shaven recumbent rider.

LOL!

Coincidentally, I left my gloves at home. I did notice it in a few minutes, but I figured I could do without them for 10 miles. Apparently I underestimated the effect of those BD gel gloves. Specialized FTW.

Yet another cold morning (low 40s). I forgot my gloves, so my hands were pretty cold by the time I got to work.

My rear tire was low by about 40psi this morning, but it seemed to hold air when I pumped it up. I'll go out at lunch time to check it and put in my spare tube if necessary.

try these, I love 'em https://www.amazon.com/Gator-Tip-Toes...tor+toe+warmer

Wet is the operative word - rain and thunderstorms. I managed to miss the real deluge this morning, we'll see if I'm as lucky this afternoon. I love riding in the rain, especially the big puddles!

Rained overnight but the roads were just damp (excluding puddles) and the temperature was a mild 15C (59F). About 1/3 of the way, a light shower started so I stopped to don my rainshell and helmet cover but by the time I had put the helmet cover over my head, the light shower was disappearing and a minute later, it was gone so I'm glad I stopped before I put my rainshell on.

Forecast is for rain and thunderstorms this afternoon so I'll have to watch TheWeatherNetwork, if only to be prepared to don my raingear before I head out.

It was warmer today, 8°celcius when I left home and 12° celcius when I got to work. Again this morning the sky was cloudless and the light was great over the fields, little mist over the river, superb view.
Last night the moon was bright in the sky so I was able to shut off my headlamp for the major part of my ride, It was nice but at one point I almost went off the road because I kept looking up at the moon and stars. Tonight the moon should be full (or was it last night?) so I should have another great commute by the moon.

Have a nice week end everyone!

60° this morning, brrr cold I'll have to find my arm warmers for this autumn chill. Turning my lights on soon for the equinox though it's not actually dark yet.

Karma's going to get me for that, but for now I'll enjoy this temperate weather while I have it.

The thermometer on my house read 1C/33F when I left, 'twas maybe a degree or two warmer when I got downtown. According to the forecast, the cooler temperatures are just a temporary blip, and we should be a little warmer for the next couple of weeks. Nice ride, very calm.

My headlight just reflects off the fog! Slowed me down. Rain was pleasant. I can't understand why my co-workers are so aghast at me riding in the rain. It's water.

Had to find a new route today to detour around a road on my regular route that is getting repaved. They have been grinding off the old pavement, leaving the surface very bumpy and dusty. Found an alternate route using good old Google maps and it turned out to be the exact same distance, and it totally avoids the construction. The good news is that I've heard that the city is adding a bike lane to the road during the repaving, but I'll believe it when I see it. That particular road is the busiest one on my road, so a bike lane would be welcomed.

They have the shoulder torn up on one of the hills on my route home. It's lead to my legs getting stronger as I stand in the pedals the whole way up now instead of shifting down. Cars seem to like when I look like I'm working hard.

Did you see that, too?? In the Memphis area I saw a full moon just above the west horizon about 6:40 AM when I happened to be heading west (driving to work this AM). By the time I got to my next street heading west about 5 minutes later, it was no longer visible.

It looked kind of eerie actually.

D'oh. Got distracted and left the garage without moving my framepump to the bike I rode today. These are pretty reliable tires (Maxxis Refuse) but I will feel like an idiot if I get a flat on the way home and no way to fix it. I've half a mind to mosey over to the LBS at lunch and buy one, just in case.

commuting into work tomorrow. Gonna be a banner year for me as far as commuting on bicycle. It will be the fourth time this year. Last year it was only one time..and the first ever. Got a new headlight...looking forward to see better..... And I am planning on riding into work again next week. I know compared to most others on this site...4 or 5 times in a year is nothing...but a big deal for me. Lots of time involved...but I am liking it.

On the way home I was passed by a dude like I was standing still, he on a road bike wearing gym/b-ball shorts, cotton tee, and no helmet. Man I'm soooo slow.

And then later this dumb@$$ idiot in a truck blew by me closely, crossing the center line, with another car coming such that the other car had to pull over and wait on the side of the road. WTF is wrong with people?!?!
