Drove in today because of the forecast of snow and freezing rain this afternoon. I don't have studded tires and the last time I rode in snow was a little frightening.

Quite the change in weather as far as temps goes today from yesterday. Yesterday 28F-40F, today 13F and we might hit 20F for a high. Good thing I've got my layering down.

A little snow this morning and roads were slick. I'm glad I had the studded tires mounted. Nice 28F temperature and light wind. It took me somewhat longer 1hour 35mins and I was a little tired when I arrived at the office.

A little foggy at first but got a good sun break midway through. A chilly but pleasant commute overall.

Ride home after work yesterday was pretty rainy but not too cold...I expected worse coming in this morning so I was in full rain gear but really it was pretty light. Headwind was annoying and the extra payer heated me up...gotta remember to shed something when all that rain gear comes out.

Happy Thanksgiving to all U.S. commuters!

Ride in was more wind than rain. Though those 45 mph cross gusts were a little hairy.we have a rule at work
that if its raining at start time we can leave and get 2 hrs. pay. Never take it. But today what the heck , start the weekend
early. So turned around and rode home. Happy t-day to all.

Incredibly strong headwind on my way to work really tired me out. At times i had to downshift to 1st gear on stretches of road where I would usually ride with 3rd on my 3-gear IGH making this morning's commute painful and also dangerous since it was also gusting pushing me around the lane.

That's a very peculiar rule. If you don't mind me asking, what's your profession?

BTW, happy Thanksgiving everyone!

Last nights ride home was quite pleasant although I had one annoying road crossing that I just could not cross due to traffic. The cars just kept coming for about 5 minutes and the cars behind me were accumulating. It's a rare incident but bad timing I guess. I see peds just start walking out in front of cars and the traffic stops for them but there is no crosswalk there. Maybe I should behave like a ped and could get away with it. I'm certainly more visible and faster than they are so should be no problem right?

Today, it is so stormy out I decided there would be no enjoyment in a commute at all so I drove.

Last night ride home was in 2-3 cm of snow with my summer bike on 700x23, a lot of fun. my gears ended up full of snow so when I got home I only had one speed working.
This morning it's all freezing rain and slush so I drove to work.

what kind of work do you do? we used to have a similar rule when I was selling Good Humor Ice Cream (one college summer) worked on commission. mostly we had to keep the truck out 12 hrs, but on rain days we could bring it back to the yard at 12Noon and we'd get $20 regardless of what we sold. the old timers just hung out at the bar. of course I tried to sell anyway ... dumb kid

I rode last friday in the rain and in the dark and i think it freaks my wife out. I have not ridden this week. It is hard to get motivated to ride in cold dark rain. :\

My ride started off fairly enjoyably, it was a balmy 40 degrees and dry when I started out. I ditched the long pants and was comfortable in shorts, a long shirt and, winter jacket. I stopped to check on and deliver food to a homeless guy who's been staying under the Rt. 1 bridge and the rain picked up as I emerged a few minutes later. Although I was soaked it wasn't too cold. It was also cool to run into 3 other commuters at Maine Ave and 15th street since I rarely see more than one or two other cyclists.

19F, rode my road bike today... ahhhhh, smooth! For some reason I'm finding the studs really annoying this year, both the slowness and noise. Factoring in the 17+mph winds the wind chill was 4F. It was supposedly a tailwind but didn't feel like it. A friend has commented that the trail we ride has spots that really funky up the wind.

Drove in again today because of the forecast. I better see some snow coming home tonight, or I'll be upset at missing two days of riding from faulty meteorology.

Last night was through a light rain/snow mix. The roads looked like there would have been black ice if the temp at dropped below freezing, ideal conditions for it.

This morning was an adventure, started off with mild rain, at one point I was actually thinking it wasn't that wet out, then the downpours came, the worst of that is the gutters are getting filled up quicker than the drains can remove the water.

I wish I had worn shorts instead of rain pants.

I rode into work this morning. It was cool and sunny with no wind. Temps are starting to drop into the low 40s in Sacramento. I know that's relative to all those in the NE and Plain States but for some reason the cold/damp just sucked my energy. Good thing traffic was light.

My wife can't believe me either. I just try to console her and prove that I always come back in from the cold and snow after a long commute. It freaks her out too.

Wow, I think this morning's was my first bicycle commute in two weeks. My legs thought so, too. Just a combination of laziness and other stuff going on where I needed to haul more stuff than I feel like carrying on my bike. I wore out some parts on my BMW motorcycle so it will be either my bicycle or my pickup (...22 mpg) for the next month or so. It was about 34 degrees, but I was a little over-dressed. There was still enough moon showing to light up the clouds around it, and with the stars make for a pretty sky. I left a few minutes early so I wouldn't have to rush and that worked out well. This will be it until Monday.

I'm a welder for the railroad. Can't really work in the rain so its cost effective to pay us 2 hrs and send us home as opposed to sitting around all day not accomplishing much. But its our choice , really only went home to start the holiday early.
and work on the klein mtb I picked up last week.

Hey! Been commuting all year but it has gotten harder lately. This morning started out in the low 20's and a light crosswind for the first 8 miles or so. Turned mostly south just as the wind
picked up and was against a stiff 15-20 mph headwind and mostly uphill for the next 8 or 9 miles. At the same time the temp jumped to about 40, so had to shed a layer.
Much nicer in the afternoon, temp around 60 and the wind wasn't a problem. Got to leave at 3 and get some good sun time which is hard to come by on weekdays this time of year.
I guess it's the cold air in the lungs and on the legs that makes it so much harder in the mornings this time of year.

It was beautiful this morning. Clear and sitting around -2*C when I left. Problem i with about 2 KM left I got a flat (Construction zone) and that was when I realized I didn't have my pump or tubular sealant.

Damn stupid things to leave without.

After dinner with the family I rode 27 miles home. Took my time and stopped frequently. Sunny but cool day with highs about freezing. Everything stayed warm except my face. Going down big hills made my eyes hurt. The head wind didn't help. Order some goggles today. Hopefully that will help.

Right there with ya, love it that no one else is in, I can actually get stuff done! 21F and no wind. I left later than usual and the sun is shining, streets pretty calm (I guess everyone's clustered at the malls?!).
