Fast ride this morning on my lightest, quickest commuter bike. I've ridden fast every day this week, so I thought my legs would be tired but they felt great. The warmer temperatures and less wind really make a difference in speeds. Looks like tomorrow is going to be a washout with a big cold front pushing through and severe storms forecasted, but I plan to get a bonus commute on Saturday because I have to work for a couple of hours.

Same temp, wind and clothing as Tuesday: 3C (37F), 10kmh winds, shorts, short socks, helmet (no skully), full-finger gloves, long sleeved jersey, and rainshell. However, unlike Tuesday, there was spray in the air (preceding the 50mm/2in rain forecast for today) so I wasn't just cool, I was downright cold, especially for the first 2km before I warmed up. However, after about 4km, the spray in the air disappeared so I just had to deal with the wetness of my skin in those temperatures. Boy, were my legs bright red: almost turned off my rear blinky. However, in the end, it wasn't so bad, especially with the hot, hot shower afterwards.

The ride home might be interesting though, forecast to DOWNPOUR!

Because of the failure of 4 spokes on my MTB on the way home on Tuesday, I rode my 29er in today: wow! was that ever fun! It was a joy to ride, partly because my MTB has 2.1" knobby tires and my 29er has 700x35c Marathon tires, much smoother and faster.

I had the same wheather this morning and I wore full pants with underpants! You must be one of those reptilian men who want to take over the world!!!

A gray morning, very cloudy and a cool 3 celcius with a 5-10 kms headwind but still, a bike ride is always nice.

The forecast for tonight is rain (not a problem) and 45-55 kms headwind (big problem)
I guess we'll see then.

It's been windy these last few days with a slight but noticeable drop in temperature, but thankfully the wind's been constant so it's headwind heading to work, and a nice tailwind riding back; this compared to the last month where it's been a headwind going to and coming back from work!

I had an interesting day yesterday. I had a scheduled dentist appointment first thing in the morning and we had a threat of a heavy snow storm. I got up in the morning and it had been sleeting and raining all night but it had stopped. So, I rode to my dentist appointment and back home again and it was dry both ways, I got 24 miles in! I jumped in my car to head to the office and here comes the sleet, really heavy, and from there it turned to snow. Long story short but the time it was done we had 10 inches of snow on the ground. It was a mess going home and again going in this morning.

ride to was 60F and cloudy.

ride home was 65F and cloudy w/ steady 25mph winds and gusts up to 35mph.

tailwind for the last third of my ride home made me feel like The Bike God.

Intentionally Jerry Browned by a small utility pickup this morning at 6:30 on the way in. Buzzed with less than a foot of clearance, lit up like a Christmas tree in April. Driver pulled into a local business farther on up the road. I was running late, as usual, and didn't have time to stop, but I called the business and left a complaint with the receptionist. She asked if i had the plate number. I said I'd stop in on my way home and get it for her. Last mile was on a quiet and peaceful canyon fire road with bunnies and birds - no cars!

Dark still, but it didn't rain on me. I can live with that.

Cheers! It was cold 35F windy 20-40mph and snowy. But I still got to ride and I smiled as I rode over the interstate overpass watching everyone sit in their cars.

Well, I've been blissfully commuting here in NYC every day while my home town of Boston has been under siege.

First bombs a few blocks from my office in Boston, killing 3, one of them a student at the university my wife teaches at and injuring 7 students at the college I teach at. Then the suspects drive to within a mile of my house, explode bombs and have a shoot out and then go into hiding two houses over from several of my friends. My wife drove home that night along almost exactly the route of the bombers just a few minutes ahead of them as they made their escape from Cambridge and had to lock herself in the house for a day. Hellish to watch the news from afar and immediately recognizing every street and house in every news clip.

So, how was my commute? Safe and uneventful in comparison.

I love Boston.

and my heart goes out to the people of West, Texas. Disasters, manmade or otherwise can be nightmares.

I cheated! Got half way thru the commute, then hopped abord a city bus. This damn sinus/chest cold is for the most part over. But the pressure & chest congestion just keep lingering.

So my wheels just felt like they were made of stone & I couldn't seem to get above 12mph, so. Was just like EFF IT! I'm catching a bus. Also I've been tanking up on a lot of McDonalds lately & the fuel just doesn't burn as clean to give the kind of performance I need.

The problem is I've been broke due to an unexpected eviction. I've had to pool all my money to get a new place. Which BTW will double my commute distance, so I'm not to worried about the lag I'm stuck in now. I'll be back to my A-game soon enough.

I won't lie, I had every intention of cheating agan tonight. But then I realized that its Sunday & the local bus stopped a couple of hours ago. So.....off I went! I'm glad I did. Felt much better after the ride & hot shower. Tomorrows ride in should be a snap. Forcast is calling for 15mph tail winds.

very nice weather for commuting today. definately better than using the subway.

Monday: First I forgot my helmet...back up the elevator. Then my Gloves...eh, I'll make do.

Bad decision, 39F/4C meant some cold fingers!

27F/-3C and sunny this morning. A squirrel was standing in the road and wouldn't move until I was almost on top of it. Good survival instinct.

Tough commute this morning with chilly temps in the upper 30s. My legs were tired from lots of riding over the weekend, including nearly 70 miles yesterday. I had an extra heavy load because my U-Lock jammed on Saturday, so I carried it home with the intent of returning it to the bike shop for an exchange to a better model. It has been jamming a lot lately. I never had time to get by the bike shop, so I squirted it with some lock penetrating lubricant, and that seemed to free it up -- so I had to carry it back to work this morning with my lunch and gear. The lock and cable easily added 5+ lbs to my load.

chilly 38F but sunny, no wind, and ride home temps are supposed to be in the mid 60's. A 1m+ section of the MUP is under construction supposedly for 2 weeks. Unfortunately, it's the one section of trail with the worst road alternatives. I'll have to time my commutes to avoid rush hour especially on ride home - these roads are busy, narrow, and have some blind sections
