11C/54F, dark clouds looming to the west, but nice and dry for the ride in. Stepped on the scale at the gym this morning, and it looks like some of my winter weight is finally starting to come off!

Only 2nd commute in 2 weeks, and it felt great to get back on the bike. Plus, even though there is a serious threat of rain today, i decided to ride anyway although normally I'm only a fair weather rider. I'm going on the Bike Maine trip in September and decided I have to toughen up and be prepared to ride in rainy conditions, if necessary. (Not to mention the camping, but I'll deal with that in September.) I'm going way outside my comfort zones!

Got poured on going home, as expected. It didn't seem to matter since my riding clothes were still sopping from this morning

Aside from a few little droplets last week, it hasn't rained here since June. Quite warm again today, was feeling pretty lazy on the way home.

Butt-kicking wind today made it my commute almost unpleasant. One good note, I was able to maintain 25 mph for more than 2 miles. My average speed was 17 mph for my 12.7 mile each way commute way down from yesterday's 19 mph.

Rode easy at recovery pace this morning because my legs need a break. Pleasant ride with temps in low 70s but extremely humid, so I was drenched in sweat after a few miles despite the slower pace. That's summer in the Southeast.

I had a good tailwind this morning so I took it easy to rest the legs a bit.

Last day of work, I'm on vacation for the next week, WOUHOU!!!!

Bad headwind yesterday really wore me out, so pouring rain this morning and feeling wobbly and tired. Decided to rest up and drive my car. My last day of work here and need to bring my coffee cup for my next gig. LOL. Talk to you all next week sometime.

71F, humid, no wind - I think I did my fastest ride in to work without trying. However, I do know why. A couple young ladies riding nice road bikes whizzed by me, side by side, chatting away, looking like they were barely working. It pissed me off so I caught up with them and followed for a few miles. When they peeled off they apologized for leaving me, knowing they were pulling me. Total ego killer

Yep, warm and very humid here too. No wind, as little foggy. Good strong ride in at a pretty decent speed though. Knocked 5 minutes off my usual hour-ten minute commute.

Looked outside, pretty gray and gloomy. Checked the forecast, rain. Ducked into the garage to give the chain on my rain bike an express clean 'n lube, emerged again to find the sun shining. Oh well, rode the rain bike anyway. It's good exercise. I've been riding my road bike a lot recently, and it practically propels itself. On the rain bike, I gotta work, particularly up the hills. Went off the beaten path a bit to take an undulating trail in the river valley, which was kinda fun. Might take it the other way this afternoon if I'm feeling up to it.

It was a stormy night. I rose early and headed out on rain soaked streets that were still doused in darkness.

Humid, wet, mid 70s.. uncomfortable but the ride was uneventful.

Haven't commuted in 2 weeks because of vacation and car stuff... drove to work all last week before our trip to make sure all the bugs were worked out with my car (just replaced blown head gasket and a bunch of other crap). But I took my bike on our trip and managed to get in 106 miles in less than 96 hours.

Today I'm back at work and will be back to my regular split commute this afternoon and tomorrow morning.

On Saturday I rode 32 miles round trip from Miramar Beach to Seaside and back, near Destin FL. This is from my stop in Seaside for a quick break.

I got bumped by an SUV mirror this morning, which is a first for me. It was in a slow-moving line at a light, so I'm not really sure that I want to get mad about it. I will keep an eye out for that SUV in the future though, in case that driver is habitually erratic or aggressive.

commute today in a light drizzle, i picked up a military surplus rain jacket and pants last weekend and it worked out great, i didn't use the pants that came with it today, but the jacket was perfect because of the length.

the ride home might have a heavier rain fall but i will have to see (sorta hope it does)

My commute today was great, the Jeep purred all the way to work

(It was raining, I don't ride in the rain, I don't need to prove that I can suck I was an infantryman so I've been there and done that)

Haven't posted here in awhile due to vacation. It's been breezy and unseasonably cool here, which is nice for the ride in. Last night I rode to my son's soccer practice and we all rode home together as a family, which is really nice.

Well it was another HOT commute home. But I had a nice tail wind and posted my fastest average speed ever! 14.6 miles in 59:xx minutes! Also hit my highest top speed ever of 39 mph according to Strava, though my bike computer only reports 35

Nice ride this morning at a very easy pace despite extremely high humidity and a headwind the whole way. I'm riding in a fast metric century tomorrow with friends, so I'm riding at recovery pace today so my legs will be reasonably fresh for the metric. Rode every day this week but mileage was a little off because I had to go out of town on Monday night, which meant I had half-commutes on Monday and Tuesday.

Today wraps up my second "all ride week" in 4 months. I was laid off at the end of March but returned to work 4 months later, resuming my normal riding routine. During my layoff I managed to maintain much of my normal mileage by simply riding in with my wife most days, in fact, I got in a few more daily miles than normal. In addition, I picked up tennis after a long layoff and have returned to daily commuting in even better shape. I did, however, throw my back out about 3 weeks ago and, have wicked blisters on the bottoms of my feet due to tennis so, today was the first day on the bike that wasn't horribly painful. Since my son has started kindergarten and his schedule will necessitate a change in ours, it's likely that I'll be on the bike 3/4 days a week instead of every day. We'll see. Until then, I'll keep it up as long as possible. If not for my recent unemployment, mid-May would have been my 11th year of daily, year round cycle commuting.

63 degrees and sunny. Started the commute having to play leap frog with a bus. Ended up passing it and never seeing it again. Nice knowing riding my Kona Paddy Wagon is faster than mass transit in the morning.
