What's your favorite riding temperature?

Mine is 55 degrees Fahrenheit.

Akirakiki 01-20-13 07:03 PM

I would say the 60's. I come from a veery hot island so thats a cool weather for me, were some others might find it hot

koolerb 01-20-13 07:18 PM

Anywhere between 50 and 60 F and I'm happy.

Medic Zero 01-20-13 07:26 PM

45-50 here in the hills (get overheated climbing). 60-ish when I'm touring somewhere flat.

Big Lebowski 01-20-13 08:27 PM

As long as the wind is not in my face, anything between 25 and 85 is fine.

350htrr 01-20-13 08:43 PM

Anytime above 5*C to 45*c, life is good... :thumb:

55-60 with low humidity.

Warm enough to not be cold wearing shorts and regular jersey but not enough to be hot.

Mr. Hairy Legs 01-20-13 11:08 PM

Whatever temperature I'm dressed for.

I'm enjoying the 0C right now as much as I was enjoying the 28C in the summer. It's all good.

Bluish Green 01-20-13 11:19 PM

All of them.

canyoneagle 01-20-13 11:58 PM

I love anywhere from 50-75F

ivan_yulaev 01-20-13 11:58 PM

Any, really. Below about 40 I cough and my nose gets running, but here in SD we rarely see that during the day. Above maybe 95F I start to get hot. But I find that well above the 70s I'm still pretty comfortable as you have a good breeze going while biking. I can't stand running when it's warmer than about 60F - I get really hot.

DVC45 01-21-13 12:00 AM

60-70 overcast.
It's going to a bit of a wait.

Sixty Fiver 01-21-13 12:14 AM

I the temps are in the low to middle 60's, humidity plays a role and the warmer it gets the more humidity I can take.

K'Tesh 01-21-13 01:34 AM

Like many here, I'm quite happy with temps in the 50's °F, with low humidity.

Clarabelle 01-21-13 02:26 AM

70's

wphamilton 01-21-13 02:32 AM

I like the warm summer days best. 85°

The Chemist 01-21-13 06:25 AM

Around 22-24. Warm enough to not need a jacket, but not so hot that I'm sweating like crazy.

DataJunkie 01-21-13 08:18 AM

70f

Steely Dan 01-21-13 08:53 AM

50-55, low humidity.

and a 50 mph 6 o'clock tail wind ;)

rumrunn6 01-21-13 08:55 AM

50-80f

DXchulo 01-21-13 11:21 AM

The warmer the better. It's not humid here, so I'm comfortable all the way up to 100. I'd choose 100 over 50 any day.

So do I, but that doesn't mean I'm picky. I can be comfortable in a wide range of temperatures. It's just that at 85°, I can wear shorts and be very, very happy.

i think that most bike commuters can be comfortable in a wide range of temps, especially those of us who know how to properly dress for real 4-season climates, but this thread is about what temps you enjoy riding in the most.

for me, i enjoy the lower-mid 50s the best because i can wear shorts and a t-shirt, be very very happy, and not sweat too much. as it gets warmer from there, i don't get any more happy, but i sure as hell sweat more (proportional to the thermometer's rise) which makes me less happy overall.
