Civia Bryant for $1025 on eBay?

knights1953 is selling new Civia Bryants in several different sizes on eBay, with a starting bid of $1025.

Has anyone here bought a bike from him? How much assembly is required?

I've also asked him those questions on eBay, but I also thought I'd see if anyone on BF has had ant experience with him.

Thanks,

Mike

Well, he has 173 feedbacks, and 100% positive, so he seems like a solid seller.

If you can pick one up for close to the starting bid, it would be a great deal IMO. Retail is around $1,800 on those bikes.
It is hard to tell from the photos, but one question worth asking is if the Gates system is the old format or the new "centertrac" system. Not a deal killer, IMO, but worth asking.

As far as assembly, I'd assume it would be like any packaged bike - saddle/seatpost, handlebars, pedals, front wheel, then a quick tune up and final adjustments. If you're not familiar with basic bicycle mechanics, then a shop might charge anywhere from $40 to 100 or so to get it set up for you.

I am assuming that it's not centertrack - that I'd have to upgrade to that.

I bought a BD bike last year, and assembly pretty much fun. If the Bryant was about as easy to assemble, that would be pretty much fun.

The seller says that the bike is completely assembled at his bike shop, and then the handlebars, pedals and front wheel are removed.

I guess that I will find out - I won with a bid of $1025!

The bike arrive just as promised - brand new for $1025!

The Afine 8 made a little noise when I first got it. I emailed the seller (it turned out to be Big Sky Bikes of Missoula, MT), and they told me to back on on the tension a little bit. About 5/8 of a turn of the tension adjuster screw made the drive train dead silent.

There is a slight scraping sound from the BB5s, so I guess I will learn how to adjust them this weekend.

I am psyched.

Grats!
That should be a fantastic bike for years to come.

Woah, nice deal! Enjoy that sweet ride designed in MPLS. I live about 2 blocks from Bryant Ave (Bike Boulevard).
