Definitely happier. This is my first winter of bike commuting, and I LOVE the added touch of seriousness that comes with slippery roads and cold! Every weekend I take a lot of my bike apart to clean it, and I really like the feeling of relying on that maintenance on Monday morning when it's five below or whatever. In a way I can't wait for spring of course, when I can ride my road bike in the nice weather. But I'm going to miss the winter commute a little bit too!

Now that is kind of funny. I'm the exact opposite. I am most always fine leaving the house in the morning, just enjoying being outside and riding to work. In the evening, I can be really uptight from work, and by the time I get home, I'm fine.

This is a really interesting thread. It's amazing how many different reasons people give for enjoying commuting by bike. There also seems to be a common negative feeling of some sort when you don't ride on your commute.

I should probably restate that. I'm not usually upset right when I leave the house, but by mile 2 I start thinking something that eventually turns into this huge injustice in my head. This is around mile 3 or 4. By mile 5 I've started to think about what needs to be done to correct the situation and by mile 6 I wonder why it was bugging me so much (if I haven't forgotten about it completely).

It's only recently that I've noticed this pattern.
