Incredibell Brass Duet-- serviceable?

https://www.mirrycle.com/brass_duet.php
I have one of these bells. It seems like the lever return spring has come dislodged, so it doesn't ring properly. It seems easy enough to remount if I could get the brass bell off the mechanism, but the only screw I can find is the one in the clamp. Has anyone opened one up before?

Not without more force than I would feel confident applying unless I knew for sure that it comes off.

Most bells that I've used or seen can be disassembled by simply unscrewing the body of the bell. If not, I suspect that the black button in the middle of the body can be levered out (gently) with a screwdriver, thereby exposing whatever holds it together. Alternatively, email mirrycycle

I have one but have never opened it up. I don't think the top button is easy to get off and so would not recommend trying. Have you looked for a screw that holds it together from the underside?

There's no hidden screw in the bottom I can find, nor was I able to pop off the black bit on top-- it seems like it's maybe squished down onto the bell? I emailed Mirrycle and they couldn't help, but offered to send me a new bell. Since it wouldn't matter if I broke this bell, I tried bending the bell away from the body, and was able to shake out the loose return spring and reinstall it.

Yeah, these thing come apart. You just pull the bell straight off real hard. Doesn't destroy it. Promise

Yeah, looks like to bell is held in place by that ring of plastic...

Also, FWIW, this is what it looks like inside:

Mine started ringing all the time (every. little. bump.), probably because the coil spring worked itself loose, so I secured the end on the lever to the lever with a dab of epoxy so that the little bolt at the other end stays a smidge farther away from the bell in its rest state.

All told, a pretty clever mechanism, and I've otherwise had nothing but good experiences with this bell!

Bikes: Many, and the list changes frequently

And after three years, does the OP still have the broken bell? That's what I want to know.

Ha, great question. He probably does. It's a tough economy out there to try to make an extra $8 in 3 years to just buy a new one.
