Fenders on an eyelet challenged bike
I am trying to put some fenders on my wife's CX bike, Veloforma CCX, for raining PNW spring training. I have some full fenders from an older bike but I am having issues with a couple of connection points.
1) The front fork is an Alpha Q carbon fork that does not have round legs so I am not sure about putting p-clips on it. I just need to find a long bolt to put through the pre-existing crown.
2) I plan on pclips on the rear but with the wish bone seat stays there is no where to attach the fender there. Is this necessary or is a connection at the chainstay and the standard fender struts enough?
thanks for any input you might have.

Use p clips for all attachment points where you don't have a hole or eyelet.
The fenders can work with just the seatstay and struts attached, but its going to probably make noise at the bottom because it isn't restrained.
If you need a p clip at that part in between the chainstays behind the bottom bracket, maybe you could fit something on the chain stay or seat tube and drill a hole into the fender at the bottom where it lines up.
This kind of stuff is helpful to make custom mounts, albeit very ugly.

Wrap it in electrical tape to protect your frame.

Thanks for the reply, I have a location at the chain stay to mount the end of the fender, as there is a pulley there for the front derailleur. Th real problem is the top on the seat stays. Does if matter that the fork does not have round legs if I use pclips?

Like this I suppose,
Only worry I'd have is that the fork is too wide.

Wrap a bunch of tape around the CF fork so it doesnt get damaged mounting the P clips.
any hole at the crown of the fork or the bottom of the steerer tube?
you might use Zipties to cope with the lack of fittings on the seat-stay attachment point,
and the front of the chainstays..

You could also drill small holes (3-4mm) in the fender at the top where they pass by the seat stays. Then thread zip ties through and attach around the seat stays.

there is a hole in the fork crown I just need to get a bolt long enough. Thanks for the input, I will see what I can do once I pick up some pclips.

I had some of the quick fenders and really did not like them, besides I am cheap and already have the full fender set already.
So I have hit one more bump in the road. Anybody have any advice on how to extend the fork crown tab on the front fender?

Crap. For the life of me I cannot think of the proper name, but those metal strips with the holes in them would work for lowering the mount. Just cut a piece for the desired length.

Can you show pictures when you have found something that works.
I am facing the same issue, and my ride home the last two days just reminded me how much I want fenders but don't have them on this bike.

SKS recently came out with long race blades that offer the coverage of a full fender. I picked up a pair for my roadbike but I have not installed them yet.

Those are only for skinny road bike tires;I'm guessing the OP's wife is running at least 28's if she's riding a cross bike.
For skinnys,Crud Catchers road fenders are cheaper and look like they provide more coverage.

In the right lane
The problem with zip ties is that they aren't too durable and they often let go when it's a major pain... imagine you're headed into a heavy wind!

Might need to get another frameset now that you have discovered the merits of mudguards..
one that anticipates fitting them.

She has other frames, but she likes to ride her race bike in foul weather. Her old cx bike had eyelets. Here are some pics of the install. All in all I think it went well. I used a 2 holed washer from an spd cleat to extend the connection point from the fork crown to the fender bridge. I used pclamps for the braces and I was able to use the Derailleur pulley bold for the end of the rear fender.

I have the Cruds also... they do not provide nearly the coverage of the SKS longs. But you're right, both are for "skinny" tires. SKS longs are way easier to take off and put back on than the Cruds.
