I really gotta go.....

I figured it was time for some serious polls now.....

cyclezealot 02-15-05 12:56 AM

One thing about living in an urban setting..Few shrubbies are large enough to hide out in...Live away from it all...I find myself developing my favorite p spots... Here in the desert water is scare. Not sure of my motivation..Maybe I think the shrub is priviliged....but...In the city..Think my favorite answer is peeing on tire..I like that...
But, here abouts...No need to.****enty of parks if you just know where they are...
On my tour of the outback of Nevada...The gals had a real problem..No shrubs. No trees..Just small, medium , and large size rocks..Modesty there was difficult..

Man, I'd vote for the car, but you gotta pee on the driver's side door handle.

You left out alleys, too.

2manybikes 02-15-05 04:08 AM

You left out pedal harder so you sweat and then you don't have to go as bad. It works.

RonH 02-15-05 06:08 AM

I usually that care of this particular problem before leaving work but occasionally forget. When I forget I'm in big trouble. I ride through many residential neighborhoods and "going" in someone's front yard isn't kosher, so I ride like **** to get home. :o

dee-vee 02-15-05 07:01 AM

I find peeing in bushes and behind dumpsters to be very gratifying.

Grasschopper 02-15-05 07:16 AM

Didn't you mom harp on you to go before you leave? I always go at work right before I head home and at home right before I head to work. Never had the issue.

Paul L. 02-15-05 08:37 AM

Underneath roads that go over washes seems to be a good choice where I commute. As long as there are no homeless people down there at the time.

vtjim 02-15-05 08:53 AM

I must say that the most-frequent complaint I hear from people who have property abutting the trail is "cyclists sneaking into my woods to urinate."

I.E., Don't think you're going unnoticed. :(

It gets worse in the winter: I've seen X-country ski tracks suddenly stop and form odd patterns, with a bunch of yellow snow in the center. It's rather off-putting...

I just ride fast and get home!

darkmother 02-15-05 09:01 AM

Ever pee off your bike *while* riding. I've done this many times at night. Most gratifying.

max-a-mill 02-15-05 09:07 AM

i love being able to whip it out and go in public....

bushes, tree, it don't matter, when you gotta go, you gotta go!

i feel bad for ladies who cannot so easily whip it out and pee anywhere.

you wanna stop and stare i might just give you a little penis wave in appreciation ;).

sbhikes 02-15-05 09:16 AM

You guys are really gross.

I'll wait all day if I have to and use the toilet like a civilized person. I'll only use the outdoors if I'm in actual wilderness, and then I'll practice good Leave No Trace ethics.

cyclezealot 02-15-05 09:25 AM

How does that work with the Big pro tours..People everywhere. Go in public you are fined last I knew..Probably like football players, just take a leak in your chamois..That would get mushy after 100 miles.
You spend lots of time taking a leak, you are losing precious seconds.

Ahhh, so you're the one responsible for the stench of urine that often invades our lovely city.

no, i am civilized enough (BARELY) to piss in the grass.... i work (but don't pee) in center city though so i am well aware of the smells you speak of.

and how is peeing outside uncivilized???? it's what we did before indoor plumbing, it all ends up "outside" sooner or later. are you afraid someone will see you willy???? i am not ashamed of mine, but on the other hand i am not going out of my way to show it to anyone either.

Guest 02-15-05 11:53 AM

I can't pee in public. I can hold it a loooooooong time rather than take a dump in the bushes.

Perhaps you misread the sarcasm in my post, particularly "lovely city." I never referred to peeing outdoors as being uncivilized. It's tough to make it from bar to bar without having to stop for some relief every now and then. Thank God for those little alleyways like Latimer and such.

max-a-mill 02-15-05 12:26 PM

sarcasm gotten and understood! :p just trying to add my own wise @ssed touch.

the response to being uncivilized came from sbh's comments.

but i seriously do like to find a patch of grass.... and who's been feeding the bums asparagus? DAMN that stuff stinks sometimes....

Tree Trunk 02-15-05 03:56 PM

This morning, I saw another cyclist sniff the shrub I peed last night, lift his leg, and pee in the same spot.

Is it that hard to remember to go before you leave?

OK, I wanna know how to do that... I did a tour many years ago and at one point I had a fully loaded tour bike going downwind at about 20MPH... I did not want to stop for anything... sigh...

Hey this poll only allows one answer... I use multiple methods. Such as using the local park restrooms/beach restrooms, finding construction outhouses, then the gas station/market thing, and last... sigh, along a trail.

Sometimes coffee and exercise just don't mix.

Since when has urintating in the woods, etc. been a violation of LNT?
I call bull sh*it.
"Number 2" is a different story, there ARE LNT ethics regarding that.

Once, when I was on an early morning run through a suburb with some friends, my friend REALLY had to go "number 2". We dared him to 'leave a package' on someone's front yard, and guess what those people woke up to!

Ok, THAT is just really nasty. I get mad when other people's dogs leave that behind on my lawn - forget a biker.

dee-vee 02-15-05 07:14 PM

wow. That is nasty. Should have left a steaming pile on a SUV hood. Now that would be funny.

Frank B 02-15-05 08:20 PM

Commuting, I have been known to slip in the back door of a McDonalds and such and then slip right back out.

On my extended ride out in the country/mountains... Whip it out and let it fly somewhere where everyone and their mother will hopefully not see.

arboc! 02-15-05 08:25 PM

a shrubery!

Well, men can pee without leaving too much of a trace, but it really bugs me when ladies leave little wads of kleenex. Why don't you just hose off with your camelback hose?
