On my commute,

I love...

...taking the greenway.
...being able to bike from door to work (couldn't before).
...the early morning fog over the parks and farmland.

I hate...

...runners wearing headphones.
...when bugs smack you in the forehead at 20mph, then fall between your glasses and your eyes, and then it freaks out and starts going all crazy and you're all like OMG WTF IS GOING ON.


What are your saving graces and pet peeves?

I hate..
..when motorist make the ride more challenging (in whatever way that is).
..having to keep an extra watch for skunks on or near the road.
..the manhole cover about three-fourths of the way down 9 mile hill that sits right in the middle of the bike lane.

I love..
..the view of downtown from the crest of 9 mile hill (see photo)
..riding in the rain
..Centennial Park
..the sense of accomplishment every day I go door to door on the bike

I love...
... beating my driving coworkers across town on a summer afternoon.
...the happy feeling I get riding my bike.

I hate...
...the chucklehead cab drivers who insist on crowding the bike lane by riding right on the edge of the lane when they have an empty lane beside them, at 5am no less.

I love...
...The scenery, I have a very nice rural road to commute on
...riding in the rain
...riding in winter a -25 °celcius
...riding in general

I hate...
...bugs.
...getting off the bike when I get to work.

.....tyranny (aka cars)

Love:
Riding from point A to B almost as fast as a car
Early morning coffee with bike crew
Calm, wind free days

Hate:
Bugs hitting eye and getting trapped in contact lenses
College kids throwing water balloons (truth)
F150's coming to close for comfort

Hate:
When I didn't pay enough attention, and caused some trouble on the roads. I feel like I've damaged the reputation of the sport.
Bugs, especially the stupid tiny ones that end up dying on my forehead, face, and neck. Some got into my eyes, or between glasses and eyes.

Love:
To be awake when I get into work.
To have a good night sleep, feeling tired at a more realistic time.

That must be very dangerous!!!
Around here the bugs barely reach 1 mph.

I LOVE:

...the variety of routes I have to choose from -- it almost feels like cheating on the way to work!
...being out IN THE AIR instead of in a box on wheels.
...hopping and dropping little "fun spots" on the routes.
...the guaranteed endorphin rush I get from riding.


I HATE:

...when the weather is too nasty to choose routes.
...deep snow/ice that hasn't been cleared, or that a handful of cars have turned into "brown sugar slush" (the ONLY thing that made my studded tires slip last winter!).
...having the endorphin rush killed by an idiot driver.

I love:
Misty rides
Leisurely paced rides
Rides with friends
Commuting

I hate:
Bugs
Neglected roadways
Inattentive cyclists, drivers, and pedestrians
Headwinds

I like Pina Coladas
And getting caught in the rain
And the feel of the ocean
and making love at midnight in the dunes of the Cape

I'm not much into health food
I'm not into yoga

I am into champagne

I love:
Taking random singletrack detours on my roadie
Twisty descents
Time trialing to work

I hate:

How many places wont allow you to take a bike in
How much attention it draws at work
How people just wont leave your bike alone! No matter where it's stashed, they always seem to feel a need to move it, and you find it laying on on the ground.

I love .... variety of bikes I pedal
the feeling of youth
the stuff I've collected from the side of the road

I hate .... getting there (unless the wind was out of the north that morning)

Love: lots of things

Hate: gnats!

Love:
- Getting a workout while commuting, which is otherwise wasted time
- Riding in cool and cold weather
- Going fast down hills
- Catching green lights
- Riding through neighborhoods with kids waving and saying hi

Hate:
- Heat and humidity
- Thunderstorms
- Jerks that blow their horns while they are passing you
- Red lights
- People who back their cars out of driveways without looking

Love:
-all green lights to work
- feeling like a kid
- Going fast down hills
-trying to beat my time riding to work
- speed
-To be awake when I get into work.
- riding my mountain bike and commuter (two different kinds of riding but so fun in their own way)

- people who don't share the road.
- people who take stupid risks to pass me
- people on bikes not waving to each other.

Love - being on a bike

Hate - 30 mph sustained headwinds in January on the way home.

Hate:
Wind
Soot in the air (from fires)

Love:
The quietness compared to a car
The feeling of accomplishment
Early morning "scenic route" along the river

I hate:
- drivers that do not respect you
- cyclists that ride the opposite direction
- work travel (prohibits me from riding)

What I love:
- my morning commutes. Totally dark and peaceful
- the change in the seasons
- spring and fall

I love:
- having showers at work
-saving gas
-the serenity of the cool morning ride
-the relaxed feeling I have all day from my morning ride

I hate:
-forgetting to bring my dress socks to work
-the long hill on the last 1/2 mile back home (when I'm most tired)
-a flat tire on the way to work when I have a meeting at 8

I love riding my bike to work

I hate arriving at work.

I love:
-The views (snow-capped mountains/city views/water views), sometimes with sunsets/sunrise/alpenglow.
-riding down the skinny strip of concrete beside the stairs at work!


I hate:
-When I cannot ride to work (for whatever reason).
-When I'm dumb and forget to hang wet gear, then have to put it back on at the end of the day.
-That stupid huge piece of trash RV that always parks over the bike lane on N. Grandview. (It forces me into traffic, and creates a blind corner for drivers at the adjacent lane.)

Love:

-Riding through abandoned downtown streets at 6:30 AM
-Feeling woke-up and energetic when I get to work
-Singing in the dark
-Just being on the bike
-Yelling "get off your phone and drive!"

Hate: (I don't really hate anything but I strongly dislike

-Cars that pass me and then make me slow down over the speed bumps
-Buses that pass me and then pull over to make a stop.
-People that throw their glass bottles on the road.
-Left turn corner cutters
-Hail (only when I am riding, though)
-Bad Craigslist bike ads
