He was my co-worker's father's best friend. Stay safe out there everyone!

I just don't understand how a motorist can hit a cyclist and not know it!!!! Was he attempting a hit and run?? Why is he not under arrest?? But I have to say this. In that video, the strike point seems to have been determined as to be in the vehicle lane. To the right of the lane, but in the lane. Now, that isn't the widest shoulder I have ever seen but it is clean, and certainly wide enough. That's where I would have been if I was riding that road! And if a vehicle struck me and killed me despite that effort to be out of its way. The driver would indeed be under arrest. I just love, however, that they couldn't help but close the video by telling cyclists to be visible and to observe the rules of the road. Things the deceased apparently did do for all the good it did him. Sigh... ...

From talking with my co-worker, it sounds like the vehicle clipped him and he fell and broke his neck. I can understand a driver hearing the contact and thinking it was just some gravel hitting the car, especially at 55mph.
