HOT!!

I'm planning on a similar Topeak rack and trunk bag setup like that. Is that the one with the panniers that expand out of the sides?

I loaned my bike to a French grad student/intern for a few months.

You mean the bike, right? Because otherwise that would be totally inappropriate. :innocent:

It is. My laptop fits in the fold out pocket, which means I don't have to switch luggage depending on whether or not I'm hauling the computer. Plus, when I fold out the panniers I can claim an extra FCN point -- that along with my beard and the absurdly low gear I'm currently running (39x16) gets me an 8 on this bike.

PatrickGSR94 03-07-14 01:45 PM

lol I just did that, I'm a 3 at this point because I wear cycling clothes on my long@$$ commute, road bike, clipless pedals, etc. As soon as I add the rack it'll come up a bit. :P

Try baggy shorts over the lycra and grow a beard -- easy points. :thumb:

Actually if I recalculate based on the days I ride in regular clothes (like I will be tomorrow night) and count my scraggly goatee under the beard heading, and using the platform side of my A530's, I can get it up to an 8. :)

How do you like your raised stem? I have the same bike and am looking at options for bringing the bars back about a quarter inch. A slight raise wouldn't hurt either, but reducing distance is the main goal.

Hot thus far.. ;)

Need to put drive side facing camera.
Fenders aren't even.
Those tires, woof.
Otherwise a good looking bike. I'm not a fan of that style of handlebar so I can't ever say it's hot.

Not my bike, but I saw this very nice light decoration at the local butcher.
Couldn't help taking a picture of it:

Here's my current setup. Doing 40 miles or so a day out here in Hawaii.

Love the color. But you need to take a pic from the drive side and without the panniers. Can't say hot or not yet.

I'm going to guess that I'll get a ton of "nots", but I love my third-hand Huffy.

Darwin Australia Hot.. Fairbanks AK, right now, definitely Not.

HTupolev 01-16-16 05:49 PM

I commute on my other bikes as well, but as my commute isn't very long, the one with a plushy ride and platform pedals and a good ability for carrying groceries and stuff can be very convenient. Even if not the fastest.

I need a closeup of the dinosaur on your bars and a drive side pic to determine hotness

Hot bike... some solid commuting there too!
Nice discs, looks like you're running 28s? If so, it's very similar to my setup, I have Tiagra front/rear/shifting.

well I washed it and took a picture for you. You'll have to imagine it without the rack. I only take it off if I have a climbing race the next day. Otherwise it's on there so I can get all my goodies around this rock.

Nice setup there! I'm actually running some 25mm Panaracer Tourkinists that I bought before I moved from Japan. They have about 1300 miles on them and still looking good. I will bump up to 28s next time though. Just trying to decide what to get. The Tourkinists are basically bullet proof. I hear good things about Gator skins but never tried them.

"Not"---my ass.....you have a perfect clean slate.

Start with smooth tires
and an eBarf Specialized MTB saddle. That will go a long ways.

Those Streamliner racks work wonders on road bikes. I have one on the K2, it's not enough of a weight concern to ever worry about removing it for one ride. And, being car-free, it lets the road bike get ridden a lot more since it can carry (a little) something once in awhile.

I see headlights on the bars - so I have to know - what does the Dino do? Is it a horn? Either way I love it.
No fender in the back?

Either way, I'll give it a hot.

Interesting seat stays with the bend in them?
Seat tilted forward? Comfort thing?

I have some cheap kenda 1.75 tires I'm gonna throw on it after winter, they came on a full size cheap @$$ folder I got a couple years back. I've been debating tossing my old trekking bar on but that would make it difficult to attach my basket. As for the seat, It's comfy and Isn't original to the bike (it's a selle royal freeway gel).

I might as well jump on the proverbial band wagon an post mine.... Set up for function, not for looks. And yes, I can't be bothered to remove the seatpost light.:innocent: The air horn is to TRY to get the attention of motorists, as well as the ferry operator on a ride I haven't done in ages because the restaurant at the far end of the ride burned down. :( This bike has been my daily rider for 13 years and aprox 6 months. Bought it for a whopping $5.25 (in 2002 CDN Dollars).
