For those of you who frequent the road forum this will be a familiar topic. Hopefully I didn't set the bar too high.

It features parts from at least 5 different bikes. The front fork is from a 700c bike and the frame is designed for 27" wheels. This enhances the ride greatly by giving one the impression that they are perpetually riding downhill.




The front and rear tires do not match (neither do the pedals). The rear is actually a nice racing tire and the front is the cheapest kenda you can imagine. I'm curious to see which will flat first. I do have better a tire I could use on the front but it's blue and I didn't want to ruin the aesthetic.

I do believe it should get some bonus points given that it's a fixie with a kickstand.

That rear rim looks like a vintage "AYHSMB."

Yeah, it does actually. I'd like to think that this bike is a statement in and of itself and that no words are necessary.

That is a unique setup for a fixie. Looks cool!! So the fork of a 700c is shorter than a vintage 27in ?? How does it ride? Do you feel too far forward or nose down?

You're very kind. I made my son help me rebuild it since he was the one that crashed it and bent the original fork. When I said I was going to ride it to work he looked at me very seriously and asked: "You're going to ride that in public?" Not sure where else I'd ride it.

Yes I do feel a bit nose down, I'm hoping to compensate with a larger front tire.

I have a cheep Vittorio with cord showing on front, and a Gatorskin on the back. It has been my experience that it is the one that finds the Goathead thorn first.

i would definitely talk with her at a local café if she was sitting there just as I would make a closer inspection of your bike if I saw it parked on the street

also, FWIW, i see a ton of new bikes for sale that look like that

minus the drops.

Risers and bullhorns appear to be more popular with the fixie crowd. I can sort of see why. I find myself standing quite a bit more and drops aren't so great for that. Hoods are OK.

And yes, colorful rims seem to be "in" but they usually match at least.

Interesting observation.

She appears to march to a different beat and might be fun to talk to. In the same way the bike has an unconventional look and it a makes you wonder why the owner made those choices.

If you knew the real reasons however, it wouldn't be so interesting. By the same token, her different look might be mostly about fashion choices and her personality could turn out to be rather shallow. Or not.

not here, at least on the lower end of new bikes. tri-color (frame/wheels) or multi-colored frame is in.

just be sure to scrape it up before riding it around though and take off those "NO MARK" stickers.

someone that looks like her and someone that rides a bike like you is either:

1. a genius
2. a lunatic
3. both
4. and doesn't care about society's norms

in any event, someone I would talk to for sure.

in a related note, i have painted my toenails yellow for the summer:

green on the right.starboard, red on the left. Port.

Guess I should be headed in the other direction.

In my case I'm pretty sure that neither 1 or 2 apply most of the time. As for number 4, I will confess to enjoying poking fun at society's norms now and then.

Well, there's not much point in painting them during the winter.

like navigation lights you dont see toes of cyclists in sandals, viewing the person from the stern.

I see you have some experience with this thread in the road forum.

For others who haven't, the idea is that people post pictures of their bikes and other critique it. Not only the bike but the picture itself and maybe even the rider.

So far I've been the only one who has posted a picture of a bike. Acidfast7 posted a picture of his toes and while that's not what I had in mind exactly, I think it does fit into the spirit of the thread just fine.

I guess I enjoy the back and forth of the "Hot or Not" thread in the road forum more than what you typically see in the Commuter Bicycle Pics thread in this one.

Agreed, you're in the wrong place. We do "Fred or not" in here.
