geek hunting lite?

Yesterday I was out on one of the local paths looking to go explore some of the areas I haven't been to yet and ended up riding with more people than I usually do. I ended up passing 2 guys on cyclecross bikes (1 in full kit) a couple of times in the first few miles, only to be passed by 1 of them when I stopped for a traffic light (I told you, this was definitely the lite version) and another time for a portage over some railroad tracks. I figured I was tired of passing and figured I'd just hang back a little and follow for a while and started to feel like Joey. The full kit guy kept looking back and didn't seem like he expected or liked to see me there (or hear me downshift as he kept slowing down), and eventually peeled off at one of the parking lots. The other guy was long gone by then; I caught up with him a few miles later and ended up talking with him for a while. He was a pretty nice guy who liked the motivation to go a little faster, and I hope to catch up to him again one day.
