I have an old Brooks Champion Flyer that I use because I must ride on some very ruff roads. (A B 17 with springs) After several years, the springs start to squeak. I love the seat but some days the sound drives me nuts. Is there anything to make the springs quiet?

I have a champion flyer too. When I got the squeaks, I tried lubricating the springs, but unfortunately, that didn't work. What did work, however, was lubricating the bolt in front.

Any hardware loose? I would Torque check all bolts and lube all metal to metal contact points

My springs do it too on the flyer. I've justified it by telling myself "the little creaking sound means it's working!".

My commute its almost all MUP so I'm on headphones and I don't hear it. I agree the sound is kind of annoying but admittedly I've never tried to silence it.

I oiled all the metal-metal locations which made it quieter and then had it stolen which shut it up completely.

Doh! Then I hope that seat squeaks forever!

Ride one flyer special, here.
Lube the nut/threads on tensioner.
Lightly hit the whole frame w/ just a bit of Obenauf's or ProofHide when conditioning the saddle. Keeps some oil residue on the metal frame and springs, cutting down corrosion potential.
So far, no squeaks.
