I found an article about a rather intense and colorful analysis/description of cycling, commuting, fitness, life and death as a cyclist in the Big Apple. It's a couple of pages on the salon.com site.

That's a nice piece, even poetic at times. Very sinister feel to it. I guess one has to have this mindset when attempting to cycle in NYC. I'm thankful my route to work is fairly safe in comparison.
