I dont understand why people laugh at being safe
Why is it "masculine" to not wear helmets or have lights?
Its the same if i said its not "manly" to wear a seat belt when driving a car or turn on your lights when its dark !! AM I RIGHT?
Why do people insist on laughing trying to make you feel lesser because you have a helmet and proper bike clothing?
(I wear motocross stuff cause i use it for MTB but i also wear it on a commute
Its not going to stop from wearing a helmet and such but it gets to me. Sometimes i want to get off my bike and use my helmet as knuckle dusters !
Only the ones that have been in accidents before understand why you should wear one, but it shouldn't take a fatal injury for them to understand.
Its not just other cyclists that take the mick; its pretty much everyone
What witty come backs can i say to those that try and tease me because i wear a helmet, im not one to just ignore them.

From: 700 Ft. above sea level.
Bikes: Not as many as there were awhile ago.
If that doesn't shut them up I just grin at them and drool. That never fails.

Where do you come from JX? I have never heard of being laughed at for wearing a helmet. It's just so normal these days. The only time I've been laughed at was in the world naked bike ride - but that's another story.

I have gotten used to wearing a helmet. Same goes for seat belts. If there wasn't the pressures and laws to abide by, I wouldn't use either one.

I see dudes on sportbikes in flip flops/shorts/no jacket and just SMH. My uncle only rides in full armor after going head on with an SUV and breaking his leg.

1. Riding without lights at night is both against the law and outright stupid.
2. Wear a helmet if you like... or don't. It's your choice.
We have a thread dedicated to the pros and cons of wearing a helmet up in Advocacy and Safety- https://www.bikeforums.net/showthread...-helmet-thread.
