Nice ride in with lots of runners out...they were everywhere.

Todzilla 09-11-14 05:53 AM

Another beautiful ride, this time with a new bike (Cannondate CAAD 10 5 105 - greased lightning). Pastures of rolling hills with mist rising from them, a bridge over a 10 lane Interstate and all but two motorists respectful of my ride space.

jrickards 09-11-14 06:27 AM

Cool (7C/45F) and windy/gusty, up to 40kmh/25mph, so I rode my 29er and took the short route in. I wore a short-sleeved jersey with a rainshell over top to block the cool wind and it worked fine: shorts on my legs were sufficient. The biggest problem was that I had (purposely) left my helmet hanging on the clothes line last night so that it would be rinsed with the ton of rain that came down last night and this morning, when I put it on, I had rivulets of COLD water running down my head, neck and back and then more of the same when I tightened the helmet and squeezed more water out of the pads, again, running down my head, neck and back.

Tomorrow morning is forecast to be 2C/36F but clear, sunny and much reduced wind so I can get out to the regular route on my regular bike but I expect to be wearing tights.

tarwheel 09-11-14 06:56 AM

Another beautiful day with temps in the mid-60s but humidity still very high. I was about as soaked from sweat as I ever get by the time I reached work this morning. Rain is supposed to return tomorrow and hang around through the weekend, but weather is supposed to cool off. Fall is in the air. Enjoyed riding my fast bike again today and made great time.

spivonious 09-11-14 07:00 AM

After three days of headwinds, I finally got a break with a nice 5mph tailwind coming in this morning. :)

ill.clyde 09-11-14 07:04 AM

I stayed up late watching Cross Vegas ... and it was around 45 this morning and my body just said "no."

arsprod 09-11-14 07:05 AM

Wet, windy, cool and cloudy. I was able to miss the worst of the storms yesterday evening but the remnants were all over the roads and trail. Temps are supposed to stay below upper 60's - I think Fall is here

A nice december morning!!! :winter2:

A lot of rain here too with a big tailwind.
I got my van towed to the shop (where I work) yesterday because of a engine misfire, I could have drove it in but as I'm a CAA member I didn't have to pay for the towing and I didn't have to skip the bike ride. If it's ready tonight I might but the bike in it a save myself a big head Wind on the way back home (40-70 km/h Wind gust forecast)

I had a slower than normal ride home yesterday. Nothing to blame other than my own lack of trying to go faster. Whatevers.

More humid this morning and supposed to hit 87F this afternoon, but then, as tarwheel said, a cool down this weekend. It felt like more traffic this morning. At least in the first 2 miles where I normally have a few cars pass, one at a time, I instead had some groups of 4 and 5 cars passing at once. After that I did push it for a couple of miles this morning and made up for yesterday afternoon's lack of trying.

I was able to overcome my body's reluctance to participate and battled a 12mph headwind...if only it will last for the ride home. After a flat in my driveway on the way home Tuesday I replaced the front tire and tube....I went with a panaracer pasela sport and slime filled tube to match whats on the back wheel. We'll see if that was a good choice. :-)

I would have battled that same headwind, which also figured into my reluctance. :)

I tried to post yesterday but my computer crashed and our network went down.

I had fun with a roadie who I got the jump on at a light. I was sailing and he worked to get me and passed me for his pride. I pulled even and my smile smiled, he did not look happy. I on the other hand love it. I told my wife this story and she thought I was silly for participating in SCR.

I then had a lazy ride but caught great traffic on the down grade and hit 68 km/h according to strava, it has been fairly accurate on this stretch so i trust it; even though my computer stopped working on the downhill.

I was exhausted on the ride home last night and I couldn't even sprint the very short hill I normally do. But it was nice and leisurely. I crashed early last night also.

Thursday morning was cooler than most mornings of late at only 10°C. I love that temperature, but for some reason Thursday mornings are not my friend, ever. I get to ride my new race bike Thursdays and I want to hammer out a good workout, but I just couldn't get going. A rather unremarkable commute. I usually feel better in the afternoon.

I do not miss the headwinds at all, I tend to avoid them with the daycare pickup.

I'm really loving this Super Sport / Pasela combination. I think today might have been my best overall time on the outward leg since moving to Orangevale. Another PR this morning, on a nice long segment, down the fire road from Main to ARBT. And, second place by milliseconds behind Monday's PR from ARBT up to the bridge.

ThermionicScott 09-11-14 09:52 AM

Unseasonably cool commute this morning. Between that and the headwind, I had a lot less mojo riding in than usual. But it still felt good once I was inside and showered. :)

joeyduck, you should apologise again, this time for that bad pun!!!

RidingMatthew 09-11-14 11:16 AM

great ride to work today a touch too humid but not bad. (glasses had some condensation issues as long as I kept moving it wsa not bad)

I am glad I put some lube on my chain riding home yesterday my bike was creaking and sounded horrible. this morningsmooth and quiet other than the Front derailleur getting stuck in the big ring. (confused why that suddenly happened.)

That is always annoying.

@jrickards You are correct, any lucky you are not married to me with the frequency of bad puns which I produce.

@thedapperest I am truly sorry about the wheel and sorry about the bad pun.

But is there a good pun?

RidingMatthew 09-11-14 11:24 AM

which is annoying the humidity problem or the chain getting stuck?
:p

Both, but I would find the chain being worse since it is something more under my control.

Are you trying to get someone to steal the rest of the bike, locking it that way? Or is there a cable I don't see?

Overslept this morning so I decided to wait until 7:30 and drive the kids to school. So glad I didn't just take the bike, as a big thunderstorm blew by soon after I arrived. I don't mind a little rain, but I don't mix well with thunderstorms. Getting ready to leave early to pick them up, no sense in them taking the bus.

yeah I have a cable too and I just relocked it later. And they're not carbon but they're aluminum but the guy drove right over it. twice. I filed a pr.

my thumb is still messed from my latest mtb crash. Tuesday's xray says not broken, torn UCL. I have a wrist/thumb immobilizer (left hand). I commuted (17kms each way) yesterday because driving in traffic sucks my soul out. I rode mostly with one hand (right hand) since resting the heel of my other hand results in vibration and pain in the thumb.

I was getting close to home, thinking I was pretty badass, until I saw the daily unicycle commuter who commutes with every day using no hands!
