Walk out the door. Flat front tire :( Oh well, just a delay and I got to change it in my house. It was cold and damp, 50F and over 80%RH, and the trails were still wet from yesterday's heavy rain, so lots of rolling resistance. It was completely overcast and gloomy all day long - was supposed to get to 60's but hovered in the low 50s all day. Guess fall is here.

Not pleasant but I got my 30 mi RT in and I didn't get wet :)

Not good. Ride is around 12.3 mi each way for reference. Got off work and hopped on the bike only to find the rear tire was flat. Still don't know why either. Couldn't get the tire to re-inflate either. Luckily the wife was off work and could come get me.

Good ride, but a bit rainy. I'm going fenderless and with clothing designed to absorb as much moisture as possible (T-shirt and shorts).

Still amazing.

mine was good this a.m. Not much traffic at 5:15.road construction on my street slowing me up a bit. With the road torn apart. have to go long way home as they will not let me down street in afternoon.oh well out in the wind and smiling.

Very humid this morning. I think it matches any of the bad July or August days. TGIF!

Had to dress up this morning for the 4C/39F ride in (tights and jacket). I thought my hands would get cold but they were fine, my head was cold at first but it warmed up too.

This is the coldest morning in the forecast for at least a week. I think we're into winter now.

Did you have the license plate number? I would soooo love to be there if/when the cops confront the ******.

TGIF - did not want to get up in part because I knew it was cold, mid 50's. I whine every year during the transition from warm to cool though it's a bit early this year. Whining to commence

This week confirmed my commitment to bike commuting, not that I really needed it. Someone backed into my car when I drove on Monday, which required me to drive on Tuesday and Friday as well to handle the repairs. Got caught in a massive traffic jam this morning while driving to pick up my car at the repair shop, and driving to work took longer than it takes on my bike. The repair work is all done now, so hopefully I'll be back to biking to work most of the time next week.

Hopefully the weather will become more favorable for bike commuting as well. We have had an incredibly wet and stormy summer, with the rainfall total running 10" above normal for the year, and most of that excess has occurred in June, July and August (and so far in September).

After nearly five years with more or less the same commute, a GPS navigation app that I was playing with (MapFactor) showed me a new wrinkle! How crazy is that. It had me cutting through some corporate parking lot to connect two streets, bypassing some pretty heavy traffic. But, speed bumps and the streets bypassed trend downhill so it won't be a regular feature.

Chilly this morning. I was thinking that it may be time to switch back to pants, but the 12mph headwind warmed me up.

Time to start carrying a spare tube and/or patch kit :)

I normally do. I was going to try and do that, but my tire tool wasn't in my bag for some reason. I guess that is what I get for to checking before I left the house.

no ride for me today:( front deraileur was totally jacked up by the time i got home. it would take forever to drop down to small sprocket. Taking the bike to the shop for some tune up needs.

supposed to be rainy today but is currently pretty sunny!

mikeybikes 09-12-14 10:22 AM

Cold. Temperature on my back patio was 35*F. Also a little bit of chilly drizzle falling. I need better gloves.

Sad face.

I hope they get it back quick.

I had a nice ride today. I ran into several other people my speed, which is unusual. One guy I wanted to pass but it just didn't make sense with performance differential, road conditions and traffic control devices. I did not want to scare him so I rang my bell but hung off his back quarter a full bike length or so until passing made sense.

I then caught another guy and talked to him for the last 5 or 6 km in, we had not run into each other before considering we were on the same route. He seemed nice and maybe I will try out his club one weekend.

I also was a rebel blowing four stop signs and ran a red light. I just did not want to stop and I was hauling at 50 km/h, no worse than daily drivers I see. My average speed was was higher.

Ride in was uneventful as usual, though still really sweaty.

Ride home could prove to be daunting as all I am seeing is dark clouds.

MikeRides 09-12-14 03:55 PM

A little chilly this morning but I warmed up fast. Uneventful ride in. Breezy ride home this afternoon, I couldn't help but notice three disabled cars within a 5 mile stretch. Must be something in the gas:roflmao2:

I have heard of gas station fuel tanks being filled with the wrong fuel (gas v diesel) problems occurring due to that.

Sepulvd 09-12-14 08:59 PM

Chilly ride this morning 40 degrees and 15mph. Completely froze my fingers. Next time wearing my gloves

Mr. Hairy Legs 09-12-14 10:26 PM

What a fantastic week for commuting. The temperature was always perfect, and the wind always seemed to be going in the right direction. Came close to my best time this afternoon.

joeyduck 09-12-14 10:42 PM

Yeah it was in my face though. But this has been a great week. Rode almost all the way with the fellow I rode in with. Nice pace and good talking

this lady offered to track him down for me but she couldn't get the plates

Getting cooler out there 59F / 15 C. I went with an old pair of running shoes instead of the open Keens and a long sleeve shirt instead of the tanktop. Fall begins.
