Yeah I love weird weather events. 2 days of the King Tide!

Today I decided to ride my fixed gear despite knowing I will have to deal with the rain on the way home. Just makes it easier to skid!

Seirus Ultraclava will do the trick for you, although I haven't found face covering that doesn't fog up my eye-wear somewhat, unless I wear dual lens ski goggles.

Another day commuting in below freezing temperatures. I'll take this over those days when it's just too hot to ride.

My wife is out of commission (knee surgery) so I've been biking with the kids to school and then driving to work (if I'm working that day).

The 6-year old is building confidence with riding in the city...back and forth over the Burrard Bridge/Cornwall/etc. as well as confidence in his ability to make it up hills (Cypress/Thurlow/Hornby, etc). It's awesome to see. His Monsters Inc backpack with the eyeball on it means nobody can sneak up on him from behind...

Fun riding today. Below freezing today, but only just. Able to ride without extra layers, and not get too hot. I am still trying to figure out this winter clothing thing, but it is getting better. I've found it is better to be 'almost cold' than to be sweating like a pig! I was actually much hotter (and more uncomfortable) riding with a heavier coat in single digits a couple of weeks ago. Looks like even warmer weather tomorrow, maybe I can ditch the beanie under the helmet for a couple of days!

Not too cold. Definitely the calm before the storm (we're supposed to get tons of rain + maybe snow) Hopefully it doesn't hit until the weekend.

I was tired and my legs were rather sore this afternoon, but my commute was nice. There were three of us all heading up the hill together, which is more people than I have seen since the summer at the same time and keeping up with one another.

I saw another guy who was doing a good job trying to be visible but failed. He had one of those lighted helmets. It was neat looking but I did not think it was that great. The light was on a slow flash on the front and was bright but it easily blended into the background and I did not notice him coming towards me until he crossed in front of me onto the pedestrian bridge over the river. The back light was promising, if he was not wearing a backpack which blocked the light completely from behind. I passed him and let him know. Then he passed me again and I still could not see the rear light.

We're just getting it right now.

Almost run down by a police car on the way in...granted it was all in slow speed motion as he was pulling off to the right but still. I have a headlamp, I passed him at an intersection so he should have noticed me.

Blustery headwinds all week. TGIF.

I took a bit of a detour on the way home yesterday so I could run an errand. I took a main road that crosses the interstate. There are about 5 stop-lights within about 1/2 mile and can take a while to get through, that is if you're in a car. The road is two lanes both directions plus various turning lanes. If you count cars stopped in all those lanes, I must have passed close to 100 cars in that 1/2 mile. I hit all green lights except for the last one where I was turning right and had to pause for just a moment to wait for it to clear. I thoroughly enjoyed that little traffic jam.

Cold ride in this morning, but I was okay. I actually shiver more sitting in the warm office than I do on my ride. I think I'll go make some hot chocolate.

Nice brisk ride in this morning. Very gloomy looking outside, but they say the clouds should start breaking up by this evening.

Yeah it got a bit blustery last night. Some small branches down. We went by one tree that took out a power pole and line and a civic.

The ride this morning was nice and calm and clear and perfect temperature. It was quite all around on the roads.

Actually there was a loud stretch when my son demonstrated how he sang (yell) we wish you a merry Christmas at the concert he went to with mom last night.

I had to skip today; it's been a steady rain all morning, and I just didn't feel like dealing with it. If all goes as predicted, things will clear this afternoon, and my Saturday commute should be perfect. I'll look forward to watching large amounts of water fill the creeks next to the bike path.

+1 on the seirus ultraclava [MENTION=301784]PatrickGSR94[/MENTION]. Clouds cleared overnight which made for a beautiful sunrise but also dropped temps 10 degrees - 22F this morning. Supposed to hit 40's this afternoon though

Yeah something like that Ultra Clava is what I was thinking of. I've seen them at local outdoors sports retailers.

Last night apparently the crazy a-holes were out. Had several tailgating and close pass encounters. Couple of people either nearly pulled out on me, or pulled out then just sat there in front of me as I was about to make a left turn. Nuts-o.

No ride today. Taking a break. I'm just worn out. My commute is about 15 miles a day. It hasn't been terribly cold but I've been a lot more tired lately. My shoulders and neck are even sore after a few days of riding in the cold. Does anyone else notice the cooler temps takes a toll? I'm sure the extra layers don't help.

Yeah I felt super tired this morning. Sometimes I ride 2 days in a row, 31 miles round trip, but I've never done 3 days in a row. I was glad this was a car day for me.

Today was great - warm and rain-free. My stupid brake broke again. I need to take it in to the shop.

Can't complain about today's riding. Above freezing both ways, no problems with cars. I've lowered the pressure on my front tire slightly, and it feels better -- more comfortable on bumps, more "planted" on the ground, but still enough pressure to avoid pinch flats. More in balance with the rear tire.

The only thing I need to do is more of it. This is the time of year where it can get overwhelmingly tempting to drive. ;)

Huh. The weather cleared off and warmed up a bit - so I broke out my fixed gear to commute on that instead. SO DAMN GOOD. I like my 'winter bike' but still, I was missing the FG. Was a welcome change.

So that was my mindset as I rolled out today - at the 2nd stop sign I get cut off by a SUV that is obviously in a hurry to come to a stop. At the next light she decides to yell at me for not staying to the side. I lost it and screamed back some obscenity. By the next light I apologized for that but at the same time was in no mood to listen to her ****. But it didn't matter. My outburst meant she was claiming the moral high ground and I was some lunatic. Luckily traffic was heavy by then so I was easily able to outpace her and didn't have to listen anymore.

Ruined my mood until I got to the office and had a cup of coffee.

Well, the rain finally cleared out of here overnight which left me with a crisp, clear morning to enjoy. The roads and paths were all still wet, so I pretty much had everything to myself. Lots of water flowing to the ocean via the San Diego Creek.

Cant wait for the ride home; it should be in the low 60's and sunny.

Warm(55F), but windy today. Streets were fairly sloppy (sweating) because of the warm temps, high humidity and left over pre-treatment (salt) applications. The fenders were a nice accessory today for sure!

Had a pannier fall off during my commute home on Friday. Lots of construction on 3rd street where they are working on installing the new light-rail system. The street has been a disaster for several months now... continually being dug up and re-patched on an almost daily basis. I'm sure they will resurface the entire road once they are finally finished, but in the mean time you really have to be on your toes to see the asphalt patches that continually change. I guess i wasn't paying quite enough attention and hit a small asphalt patch that had about a 2-inch lip all the way around. When the back tire hit, it bounced so hard it popped the pannier off the rack and was then dragged behind the bike by the bungee strap. Luckily, nothing went into the wheel and I was able to stop fairly quick. To my surprise, I couldn't find any damage to the pannier either. No harm no foul I guess.
