Mooresville! Me too! I commute from Mooresville to Huntersville and back pretty much everyday.

Looks like a warm week this week. It's already 75F and supposed to be 92 this afternoon. High is in the mid-90s all week.
A nice enough ride in this morning. I got a couple of rides in over the weekend too.

Woke up at 5:30 to the sound of rain but in the hour or so before I had to leave, it diminished so I started out my commute to wet roads and a very little bit of spray in the air, that is, until I got about 8km of the way in and the rain started again, with a slight breezy headwind and it continued until about 3km from the end of my 25km commute where it diminished again to just spray. So, I had a bit of wet fun this morning.

I went for a 75km ride yesterday and so I thought that I'd be burnt for this morning's commute in but I felt fine, I actually felt that I was making good speed but I didn't time it so I don't know. It was 12C/55F coming in so the rain wasn't too cool, just nice actually (well, for rain that is). It is forecast to be 23C/73F this afternoon and evening which will be good for dragonboat practice.

Already a bit hot this morning. 64F with 78% humidity and no wind. I'm going to be extremely sweaty coming home if temperatures hit the forecast 88F.

Very nice 71F but very humid. The traffic was light and very courteous. It's going to be a hot one this afternoon.

Beautiful 55 °F sunny morning to try out my new puncture resistant Schwalbe Marathon Plus 700x32 tires and Sunlite tubes on my 18 mile RT commute. Getting 4 flats in the last 3 weeks helped rationalize the upgrade. I was expecting an increased rolling resistance, and reduced average speed, but neither occurred, in fact they felt faster and more efficient. I was coming from 85 psi Max tires to these, which I'm running at 95 psi, and the Schwalbe's have a significantly smoother tread, compared to the knobby hybrid tires I had been rolling on. Can't wait to get a thousand miles on these before the snow comes.

We will have to meet up and ride sometime. What do you commute on.

Just warm enough at 70° and 95% humidity that I felt like a lazy 16-17 mph through the almost deserted Greenway, then timing the lights to catch the stretch to my final left turn on an almost empty road. It feels perfect when it works out that way.

I avoid 115, which would be my shortest route.
My normal commute is Shearers Road south, through the River Run Neighborhood, and then cut over to Mayes Rd. I do get on 115 for about 100 yards and then into a couple more neighborhoods before hitting 73. I work behind the Lowe's & Kohl's shopping center.

I don't normally ride a whole lot outside of commute. But recently that has changed as I rode with a couple of guys from the Mooresville Area Cyclists two weekends ago.

That's cool. I actually live on shearers road. I ride shearers road to Presbyterian to 115 to the college.

I've gotta say... I knocked my pressure down to 75psi in my 700x32 tires after reading this:

My bike feels great it has definitely helped with my front wheel sliding when cornering on loose gravel.

No commute today ... it's my daughter's last softball game so I've got to drive down to watch her after work.

I'll be commuting much of the rest of the week though. And possibly all of next week if I can pull it off

The same bird tried to pick up my helmet blinky again. The first two times I was guessing it was a bird but this morning with the bright sun I saw the shadow of the bird coming down on me at the same time that I felt my helmet wiggle on my head. I'll remove the blinky for the morning ride as I have another one lower on the bike. I'll put it back for the night ride.

That's funny... I've never heard of such a thing.

It's a perfect day for commuting in Central NJ today -- sunny in the 60s on the way in and about 80 expected on the way home. Tomorrow will be high of 90 so will likely be the late-spring pivot when I shift from commuting in business casual to more sporting clothes, with a change in the company gym.

It looks like we're about to get a thunderstorm here. My 4 o'clock ride may be a little wet.

I stopped under a pine tree Saturday on my way home to check a rattle and there must have been a nest nearby with young crows. Cause one buzzed me and then sat above me and kept cawing at me until I went on my way. It was interesting since I know crows are protective and smart, but I have never been a threat to one before. It also gave me a good story to tell my son, we had read a poem about mobster crows harassing regal eagles.

Windy and a bit warm.. not complaining about the warm part! Better than cold in my book. Got a couple giggles from a pair of teenage girls last night guess I need to invest in longer shorts.

The commute in this morning was good, cool temp and partly cloudy skies, no rain. I was able to ride a long ride home last evening and hopefully it will not be raining when I leave today so I can do the same.

Had a nice ride on the way in to work with a average temperature of 62°. It is supposed to get into the 90s today so looks like there will be a lot of water drinking this afternoon.

An afternoon storm and subsequent cloudiness made for some cooler temps on the way home yesterday. The rain had stopped and roads were pretty dry, but the humidity was plenty high. I have definitely been riding a bit slower lately with the higher temps and humidity.

I rescued a turtle on the way in this morning. I see plenty of road kill, but I always hate to see a squashed turtle. I tell myself if I ever see one trying to cross that I'd stop and help him. That opportunity presented itself this morning. He was about 2/3 of the way across. It wasn't a busy road, but his chances of successfully crossing - especially since he was just sitting there retracted into his shell - were not very good. I put him in the grass just off the road and went about my business.

woke up to a red/yellow/green blob over the entirety of my commute PLUS a tornado warning.

Slept in and put my roadie in the car so I can drop it at the bike shop tonight after work. I've got a knocking noise in the bottom bracket

The same bird again this morning, it's now the third morning in a row. This morning it took me by surprise a bit because I didn't have my blinky, I completely removed it from the helmet before leaving the house this morning but the bird still tried to grab my helmet.

For the next few day I'll have my camera ready and I'll try to take a selfie of my self and the bird. For the first time ever I wish I had a GoPRo...

Got up a half hour later than I would've liked but the weather was good and wind manageable.

Awesome day today, and one which points out the advantages of a folding bike...

I do a bike-bus-bike commute. Today, there was some snafu with the buses after I was already on-board, bike stowed underneath, where the final destination was changed... and unbeknownst to me, my stop was dropped from the schedule.

We sailed past my exit, I queried the driver -- he had not been told that there was someone on-board for that stop, and there had been no announcement on the bus that people for that stop needed to get off. Another driver involved in this whole SNAFU, knew where I was headed, but either was not asked or didn't think to tell.

So we're looking to get off at the next exit and backtrack, probably a delay of 15-20 min, making many on this bus headed to an airport worried and grumpy.

I suggest that the driver just let me off at the end of the exit ramp, from whence I can bike into town. He's OK with it, I'm perfectly fine with it, airport-bound bus riders heave a sigh of relief. Maybe 5 min total down the ramp, getting me and the bike off the bus, and then back up the onramp. I was left closer to work, with the wind, on a beautiful sunny day.

Through the winter, I'd been using a lockup bike at the station which would have been less than helpful in this situation. I was thinking of going back to lockup bikes at both ends. This has me rethinking that plan... OTOH, this was the first time in a year since getting into this commute, first time ever utilizing that bus line for over a decade, where something like this went down, so I'd still be pretty safe with lockup bikes...

At least through the Summer, I think I'll stick with my Birdy folder. Just upped the gears from 1x7 to 3x7 with a Sachs Dual Drive rear wheel, so I have the range for a longer, hillier commute.
