I hated my commute this morning. The weather has tuned cooler lately. It saps all the energy in my legs when I first get out and feel that suffocating breeze. And then witnessing the ugly sunrise again is just too much to bear. It's so disappointing to have weather like this in August.

Humidity off the chart today....made the ride in sticky....but the ride home brutal. Temp 94, Heat index 109, good thing I only have a 7.5 mile

I haven't posted in this section in awhile. Since my last post; I've switched jobs, moved into a new house, and now only commute 10 miles a day compared to formerly 25 miles..

The morning commute is always the same (7 days a week it's going to be repetitive after awhile) at 4am, the sun hadn't risen yet, the birds were just starting to chirp (usually the only sound I hear is the gravel road under my wheels), and the traffic light in town is flashing yellow which means I could very easily ride down the middle of the road and no one would know. My afternoon commute was hot, and other than the tractor trailer driver that decided to pass me only to immediately pull over as I was approaching my turn off the main road which made me hard brake, it was a good ride. I hate drivers who can't drive, but trained drivers who can't drive are the worst.

I am very excited, kind of. Summer is over and we start back to school tomorrow, but no kids till next Tuesday. I am back on the bike commuting starting tomorrow morning. Looking forward to the ride, not so much trying to ease back into work.

Look if you're going to jaywalk into the MIDDLE of the freaking street don't have a discussion with your group about whether not to proceed or go back. Stupid freaking tourists.

Hopefully things are turning back your way this week. You can once again ride in high humidity, unable to see the sunrise due to sweat in your eyes, and arrive to work with damp clothes. Enjoy!!

Definitely a sweatier ride in for me today. I left a bit later than normal so no lolly-gagging on the way in. And yes, the humidity and warm temps are back (68F).

I agree, it was almost too much to bear. Not to mention that the air and ground were so clear that it robbed me of the morning shower off at work.

Back to commuting after almost 3 weeks vacation - rode the coast of California with my son, did some day trips in northern Michigan. I see my daily work now as a way to pay for my bike trips!

Tourists are usually an issue all Summer here in DC too...but this week we have heads of state from just about every African country so lots of barricades and detours.

73F/23C...aside from the police walls everywhere, a nice ride in.

Fast commute this morning with moderate fog. I drove yesterday because the fog was so thick, but it wasn't as bad today. Our unseasonably cool weather continues, with highs only expected to reach mid-80s this afternoon. We set a record last Saturday for the coolest high temperature on record for Aug. 2, when it topped out at 70 F, which is about 20 degrees below our normal high. I don't if you other guys from the SE are kidding or not, but I love the cooler weather.

I did not ride yesterday because I had to get my truck inspected. I did ride in this morning in the cool weather and the legs felt great.

Last month was the coldest July ever and August is starting out to match it. I look forward to warm morning rides in to work not mid low 60's. Got caught in a thunderstorm on the way home yesterday and managed to dodge it this morning - ride home today could be dodgy

Unusually humid this morning. Even a few rain drops, which is pretty much unheard of in Sacramento. Apparently the southwest monsoon is pushing much farther north than usual.

Ugh, vacation is over, back to work. Did my usual 18km loop this morning before descending into my basement office. So hard to get motivated to work when the weather is this beautiful!

Pretty uneventful rides yesterday. Humid as always in the morning, but 68 degrees and no wind. Afternoon had just a light west wind, and humidity of only 31% when I left the office! TWC said it was 94 but felt like 93, kind of interesting for summer. The air was so dry that sweat evaporated very fast and made it feel a good bit cooler while I was moving. I also got my best time on 2 Strava segments.

Only issue was turning left out of a side street to the center turn lane of a major road, to continue over to an offset side street on the other side. A woman pulled out of a driveway farther down, into the center lane to merge, facing me. I was there in the center lane facing her with my 700 lumen light flashing away, and she just keeps on coming, though fairly slowly. I had to get over on the edge line of the center lane for her to go past me, meanwhile she was just all smiles all over her face like she didn't even care.

I wish I would have gotten front and center in the lane and made her wait.

Nice commute this morning. No attacks by Velocoraptors. No tornadoes, hurricanes or dust storms. Life is good.

Took off work yesterday for a daughter's birthday. No riding. Easy enough ride in this morning.

Supposed to be hotter this afternoon and tomorrow, but then another cool-down Thursday night and through the weekend. Like Tarwheel, I'm enjoying the cooler days when they come.

Nice weather for a bike ride. Headwind but not much, a bit of sun here and there. no bird attack, I thinks he's done for the season.

I radically changed my riding position 3 weeks ago and now that I'm used to it I can say that it's a big improvement. There's also the fact that I finally found a saddle that suit me very well.
