Beautiful weather this morning, not too humid. Unfortunately I have to pick up some car parts this afternoon so I couldn't ride in today.

essiemyra 09-05-14 05:05 AM

Today was a another nice uneventful ride to work.

Felt quite oppressive and overcast and very, very humid. I haven't checked the weather forecast for this afternoon but I suspect that rain is coming.

mgw4jc 09-05-14 07:11 AM

Very humid this morning. So humid they call it fog.

But a cold front is supposed to come this weekend. Monday's forecast is for a high of 80.

tarwheel 09-05-14 07:18 AM

Hot and muggy again, but the weather here is finally supposed to cool off again next week. Can't wait.

Got lucky with the daily thunderstorms yesterday, as they didn't show up until after dark.

Had a good bit of rain showers on Tuesday, and knowing this I put on the fenders before I left the house. We had rain late afternoon, and then once again I rode the entire way home almost 70 minutes WITHOUT A DROP ON ME! I was disappointed, I wanted a bit of rain on me. Even still, I was just as wet when I got home as I would have been if it rained.

Yesterday afternoon, had my first obscenities yelled at me, that I can recall, since I started commuting. Controlling the right lane on a 5-lane road, a big Ram truck crew cab with 2-axle trailer changes lanes to pass, and while doing so the guy in the passenger seat hangs out to yell "Get the f*ck offa tha road!!". He got back in the right lane then turned into a neighborhood a few hundred yards ahead. But hey, the driver obviously saw me with plenty of time to change lanes and was not slowed down at all.

Lane control works, people.

Nothing much this morning other than a car passing on a hill with traffic oncoming. I had motioned for him to stay back, then waved him on at the crest of the hill, but he was quite a ways back from me and waited way too long. When he finally went to pass, the oncoming traffic was nearly at us, having to almost stop so this yahoo could complete the pass around me. Again, though, a full lane change and plenty of room given on the pass.

My first ride all week. I know, pathetic. Seem to be recovering from a bachelor party weekend trip still.

I don't mind it when people yell or honk at me. At least they saw me. I usually yell back "Sorry 'bout your dick"

same here before I rode home a coworker was laughing saying "it is starting to rain what are you going to do!?" I said ride home in the rain and probably slower than usual. when I left i felt some rain drops but rode away from the dark clouds. It did rain a lot last night but I was safe at home by that time. :thumb:

the humidity this mornign was rough> I had it condensing on my glasses at every stop.

I rolled my legs last night with a triggerpoint therapy wheel. I bought it with my $25 rewards at Fleet Feet sports. I dont use it regularly enough. My legs instantly felt better and this morning I had more power in the legs. I have to remember to do that more often.

Nice morning, great weather. Had to go to the doc this morning because of rotator cuff injury. Debated about whether or not to ride but in the end my default is ride. Turns out the doc is a rider and was flabbergasted that I'd ridden 13 miles to the hospital and ride every day (puffed chest). Then he stuck and 4 foot needle in my shoulder

MikeRides 09-05-14 10:22 AM

Humidity seemed to be back again today after a couple days of comfortable temps. Uneventful commute this morning, which isn't necessarily a bad thing.

Lug 09-06-14 03:33 AM

Cool and rainy here in Anchorage. Don't mind though because it clears the Campbell Creek Trail of all the fair weather users and I end up with the trail mostly to myself.

Back to last Thursday afternoon on the way home from work, flatted. First time ever. Honest! Let's say maybe 15 years road cycling since since '75. (I had a lot of years off the bike) Small tear-drop shaped glass thingie put a hole in my tire and poked the tube. Glad I practiced on my boy's flatted tubes this summer, so patching was no big deal, sitting in the sunshine, enjoying the day.

I saved my spare tire and spare tube for the ride in at 02:00 'cause I ain't patching at that time of the morning.

Did I already post here of this milestone? Hope not. But hey, biking is an adventure for me...

It was a beautiful morning here in So Cal; fall is certainly in the air. Last night, big brown delivered my new Arkel Randonneur rack, so I put it on my road bike, added my trunk, and had a wonderful ride in. It's a great, sturdy set up. My legs were tired though; I've had a big week on the bike, so the ride home this afternoon will be slow and easy.

MikeRides 09-06-14 05:38 PM

Rode in this morning despite the radar showing thunderstorms today, made it the whole day without getting wet so it goes to show you can't always rely on the forecasts. Other than being ran off the road by a drunk in a rusted out pick up, it was a pleasant day.

essiemyra 09-08-14 05:10 AM

The commute in this morning was very nice. This morning the temp was 52f degrees when I left the house. I wore a long sleeved shirt, trying to hold out before bringing out colder weather wear.

spivonious 09-08-14 06:39 AM

Very comfortable weather this morning. They're finally paving the road that has been grated for two weeks. It's closed to cars, but I asked if I could ride through and they said sure, just watch out for trucks.

Good news - I didn't have to take a long detour.

Bad news - the asphalt wasn't quite hard, so my tires became slightly paved. I stopped a half mile past them to clean off the gravel.

mgw4jc 09-08-14 06:40 AM

Cloudy this morning with chances of rain all day. I rode anyway and only felt minor droplets on the way in. My motorcycle riding friends at work did not ride today. I asked them if they can't find their bikes when it is cloudy.

I crossed 3000 miles of commuting last week. Well, actually I'm probably at more like 3,300, but I wasn't tracking my miles until I changed jobs in February and started a longer commute.

wphamilton 09-08-14 06:44 AM

Flash flood warnings in the area, and the creek already near the flood level so no Greenway today. Visibility was poor with the early fog and I was a little bummed when my headlight died in traffic (my charger fried last night). But it wasn't a problem.

I had leased a new '14 VW Jetta this weekend so it was tempting to drive my new car in, just to show it off. But the bike ride still wins out.

jrickards 09-08-14 06:51 AM

Nice and cool (11C/51F) but sunny and clear morning. Great start to the day and the week.

ill.clyde 09-08-14 07:18 AM

The body was protesting this morning, but I pushed through.

Was one of those weird mornings where I made all the lights from my house, all the way downtown to the MUP. The only light I missed was on the long straight street after the MUP and before the office. Made nice time. Thought I was going fast enough to crack the 40 minute mark but didn't. Was a completely unremarkable commute except for the truck that was lodged under a railroad viaduct on a side street near downtown. And it wasn't just the front edge of the trailer, he really opened her up like a sardine can. Would have stopped for a pic but was making such good time I didn't want to.

arsprod 09-08-14 07:36 AM

Beautiful morning, started at 48F and was 56F by the time I got to my office - seriously overdressed. It's embarrassing that with years of data about what to wear at various temps I go on hunches rather than empirical knowledge

Hyperbole 09-08-14 08:08 AM

First day back from vacation. Not my best commute. I hopped on my bike and noticed I had a flat (I rode my bike on vacation and transported it with no flats the day before :wtf:). So, I swapped by front wheel with my wife's front red deep V wheel. Looks odd, but whatevs. This was also my first time commuting clip-less, which was a godsend on the two climbs I have in the morning. However, I was nearly hit by an SUV. As I was riding up 1st Avenue an Infinity SUV turned abruptly from his lane across the green-path with the intent to pull into a parking garage. I nearly smashed into the front driver side quarter panel. I somehow had the wherewithal to hop the curb narrowly clipping my knee on his bumper. I yelled a few choice words at the guy! Pedestrians walking by joined in berating the guy. After my stomach settled I rode off the remaining 5 minutes to work. Took me awhile to cool down from that one. :notamused:

dramiscram 09-08-14 08:12 AM

Nice sunny morning, a cool 9° celcius when I left home and 16°c celcius when I got to work. It's hard to dress properly, I'm either cold when I leave home or sweating like hell when I get to work.
