As most of you might remember, I got hit by a car about two months ago. I am better and will soon get back to work. As I got the new bike ready for service, (Cannondale road Synapse) I really felt bad for the old bike. After 11 years of good service, it was time to put the old girl down. Does anyone else feel the same when their old bike died an early death?

Yeah, I felt the same way when I was in high school, and my dad had given me an old steel schwinn bike. What happened is the frame rusted through at the bottom bracket and the frame finally just broke.

Was still kind sad to see it go...

I was in the process of rebuilding my 1988 centurion lemans RS – which i'd had for about 6 years at this point – as a commuter when she was stolen out of my garage about 2 years ago (by my neighbor's house guest who turned out to be a fugitive!). It felt like someone sucker punched me in the gut. I remember being pretty sad for about a month or so, and I still get a bit down thinking about her. Oh look what you've gone and done! You've gotten me all weepy-eyed!

I'm sad about my old cruiser, but it was time to move on to something that fit me & my needs better.

Never put a bike down but I had one stolen which is as bad if not worse of a feeling. Sorry about your old bike but I hope your new one brings lots of great rides.
