Fuji Touring bike

Hi everybody,

I'm looking into getting a commuter (usually do 20+ miles a day) and stumbled upon a 2008 Fuji Touring for $400:

2008 Fuji Touring - BikePedia

Bike's been garage-kept and has stock everything as well as fenders and rear rack. Long story short, what are your thoughts on this bike for a daily commuter for this price? I'm used to road bikes, but don't mind losing a little speed for comfort. Let me know your thoughts as far as how much I'd be losing/gaining in terms of speed/comfort and what you think of the price.

Thanks for the help,
Daniel

Bikes: 2007 Trek SU100, 2009 Fantom CX, 2012 Fantom Cross Uno, Bakfiets

I'd snap it up.

I had one for a short time and it was a good bike. The wheels were a bit weak, but that was really the only issue. I bought it new, in 2009, as leftover for a just a bit under $600.

This is essentially the current version of that bike -

I went and picked it up today. Took it for a little test spin and I've got to say I'm a big fan. Definitely a lot quicker and more responsive than I anticipated. Thanks a lot for your thoughts on this everybody. At this early stage it seems like I found a nice ride for around town and hopefully some longer trips in the near future.

How about a pic? That will be a great commuter. Sturdy and with drop bars!

I loved my 2007.

It didn't love me, but those were all due to my weight/strength.

My '98 (frame but not fork replaced in '07) Fuji Touring is a great commuter bike. It got me to work this morning, but going home should be even more fun!

On the last ride before I parted it out I bent the rear seat stay by stepping on it during a crash.

I still have the frame hanging on the wall and just can't seem bring myself to recycle it..

I had one. Very nice commuter, touring bike and gravel path bike. Can't go wrong if the bike is in as-new condition.

You might not want to use this bike for a fast group ride. However, it will be 95% as fast as a Road bike during a normal 15 mile commute.
