Show your helmet mounted lights
95% of my commute is after dark. For a long time, I used either a BlackBurn Flea or an Axiom Spark (Knog style) light in blink mode. It seemed to work well for being seen in urban/suburban areas.
Lately, I've been riding through the levee system roads at night, and I need to see what I'm looking at, rather than be seen by traffic.
I tried mounting my Cygolite Pace 420, my NiteRider MiNewt 600 and my NiteRider Mako 150, and didn't like the results. They were all too heavy, and made wearing my helmet uncomfortable. Also, the mounts they provided made the lights really high off the top of the helmet, which made the helmet wobble much more than if they were secured lower.
I tried to zip-tie a flashlight to the helmet, and i liked the beam, but I couldn't get it centered correctly. It wasn't pointing where I was looking, which made me have to tilt my head in a weird way. Maybe y'all have figured out a better mounting solution??
For reference, the helmet is a basic Giro Indicator.
I was looking at the Axiom Lazer 200. It should be bright enough for me. It is at least 100g lighter than the bigger lights I tried, but, by the looks of the mount, it will sit up high like the others. I don't mind spending the money for a decent light, but I would like to see what you guys and gals are using and what you think.

I use this to strap a flashlight to my helmet. A nice 500 lumen flashlight. Read the under $50 light sticky thread.
