Hi everyone,
I am seeking a red flashing light that will clip onto my squishy fishnet reflective vest without falling on the road. I had bought a Nathan's light that hung on well to the vest. However, it died after 5 months of use (I will not buy another). Can anyone recommend another model? Thanks!

The clips on the back of commercially available rear flashers may do the trick. I have a Planet Bike SuperFlash and a CygoLite taillight (name escapes me now) and they both have clips on the rear that may work for you. Just an idea . . .

The problem you're facing is two-fold.

1. Most rear lights that have a clip tend to be the most secure when clipped in to their matching bracket for the bike.
2. Most rear lights have such a narrow beam that they need to be aimed for effect- which is hard to do on flimsy fabric.

You'll have better luck putting one on your helmet.

Brooklinebiker, just curious why would you not be able just to mount it on your bike? Or are you looking for an extra light in addition to a bike-mounted unit?

Thanks everyone for the replies. I have a light on my helmet and on my rear rack. I usually ride with a knapsack on the rear rack that obscures the rear light.

Mount existing light on rack itself.

A Serfas Thunderbolt is a great tail light. The only knock I have against it is that it only lasts about 4 hours so if I'm out for a long ride it might die on me. On the plus side though, it is really easy to mount just about anywhere, has good side visibility, is insanely bright straight on, and is USB rechargeable so if you use it while commuting you can charge it during your work day.

Get two large safety pins, and pin them into the vest horizontally and parallel with each other about an inch apart. Clip taillight through them.

I have this light clipped to the strap on my backpack. it's not a snug fit, but it has never fallen off.

Thanks for the replies. Safety pins are an interesting option for fastening a light to my fishnet vest. Might zip ties work too?

I use a pair of Knog Blinders. They're waterproof, and plug into a usb port to recharge. They use a rubber band to wrap around and hook on itself. You could attach this light almost anywhere.

I've used zip ties to mount lights to helmets, no reason they couldn't work elsewhere.

It looks like an upgrade from their Radbot which is the best light I have used.

I really like their Cosmic Dreadnaught front light too.

don't use a blinky get a strobe

I used velcro stuck on the back of the light & sewn onto the mesh vest.

Get a Niteflux RedZone 4. They are expensive but can be tied to anything using cable ties and can be pointed in nearly any direction.

Don't get a strobe, use a blinky. As a motorist, a blinky along with a large area glowing light (don't know why night cyclists don't want a larger glowing visible light so others can better judge where they are...) allows me to look more closely to figure out what and where you are. An annoying strobe causes me to look away.

I don't know why cyclists want to annoy drivers with brilliant seizure inducing flashing strobes and want the drivers to look away from them rather than look at them.

I used to use a strobe, but that was back in the day before blinkies got decently bright. I would not run with one now. They really aren't better than some of the modern blinkies and their battery drain is too high.

I just got a clip-on light meant to clip onto the rear of shirt collar (was free from an event). I clipped it onto my left pannier on the back. It is not aimed (just hangs there), however i am thinking of other places it could clip to and be kinda self-aiming like the rear cinch straps, or the small cargo net which sits below the lower of the 2 straps. Maybe you could do this kind of thing vs on your clothing?
