Your favorite spot to stop?

Mine have to be:

1. Detour through the park to skip rocks by the creek.

2. Sit in the locally owned grocery store and have an excellent quart or pint of ice cold chocolate milk, with or without sushi or wrap.

3. Our movie theater. Newtown Theatre |

What about yours? Do you ever make a day/night of a trip & go to a favorite spot?

My favorite stop is home! There is nowhere at all of any interest along my commute. Any bars or restaraunts I want to go to are within walking distance from work or the complete opposite direction. Maybe a lunchtime trip, but other than that, nah there is nothing.

Since this is the commuting forum, on my commute my favorite (and only) stop is a Dunkin Donut shop to use the bathroom.

I rarely stop on my commute except for the hardware store or RadioShack if I need something for a project.

A lot of places. Most common is probably the roadhouse in what used to be a shady part of a shady town. Good food, and still draws in a few sourdoughs with character at the bar as regulars. Of course anyplace surrounded by bicycle and outdoors shops, that also professes to have a great love for tater tots, bacon, and bourbon, is generally alright by me.

There's a country deli on my way to work, and when I stop in there at 6:30-7:00am, I typically run into one or two old buddies from the neighborhood (I live in the same community in which I grew up) and shoot the breeze for a bit. Of course, on my agenda is making sure they understand that I bike to work for fun and exercise, NOT as the result of a DWI or bad stroke of financial luck!

Anyway, I look forward to making this stop any time I leave a little extra early.

Not long enough really. I do sometimes stop a few minutes to rest on or near the Hazel bridge if I'm having a bad day.

Chocolate milk and sushi? Really? That's grody

Lock 33 on the Erie Canal. It's about halfway between work and home. Drinking fountain to top-off my bottle, porta-potty, and I'm back on my way.

It's even lighted too. I've fixed flats there twice after dark.

Can't stop. Don't want to either.

This time of the year, I have to stop to remove a layer to keep from overheating. That is my only stop, literally. I ride 15 miles non-stop door to door. Usually strip down in Georgetown at the end if the CCT, or near the Tidal Basin. Depends on how far I make it. 10 degree temperature increase in the first five miles. I hate freezing for 20 minutes first thing in the morning.

Nice! I've never needed water on any of my trips, i drink so much water all day most days that even the most drenching sweaty hot day nary puts a dent. That said, if there was a clean, useable fountain -anywhere- in this rural-farm-town-come-mcmansionville outside i'd probably add that to my list as #4 . :)

Stop on my commute? McD for coffee in the morning.

Not commuting? Anywhere I think I see something worth shooting, with my camera. Picnic tables at parks for a quick snack - drink. And of course fast food and convenience stores.

It's pretty rare that I stop ... but I have detours that I love. Taking the long way around near the Art Museum. Heading over to the lake instead of taking the direct route home, south of downtown.

i think I am in the same category I really dont stop along the way to work 11 miles, but I will stop to shed layers. Within .8 miles from my house I go down a hill in which i reach 30+ mph so I like an extra bit since I am not warmed up yet by that time. Sometimes I stop on the way home if around the lake to take a picture

But my favorite spot to stop is my back door where my family meets me at the door to unload lights, bags, etc.

scroca 10-28-14 08:07 AM

Stop on a commute? Almost unthinkable! I don't even stop to take off or put on clothes.

However, I will stop to keep from being run over.

+1 except that it is my dog that is whining to be let out the side door to see me and run around the back yard while I put my bike in the garage at the end of the property.

Coffee bucks. I teach IDC at a local 24hr Fit near my main job and then meet peeps from that class there. I only stop when I have this and errands and of course red lights.
Stop and smell the roses you all.

Better get those brakes checked!

If I leave early and don't add miles, I'll hit the Panera that's close to the office. But normally I don't have the time to stop and hang out anywhere. The only possible places are either 95% of the way to work or 95% of the way home.

Oh, stopping at a Red Box once in a while happens.

At last, another who appreciates the versatility of drinkable chocolates.
