I got a pair of Bar Mitts for my commuter bike, so far 14 degrees in normal summer gloves was no issue.

I have a terrible problem with losnig mittens, so I generally get a pair of $10 snowmobile mitts from the discount store (Giant Tiger).

So the pairing that's supposed to help fingers keep each other warm is engineered right out of the product.

I have peal izumi lobsters. it does not have individual fingers. and works fine with sti.

My Hestra snowboard lobster mitts do the job nicely down to 0 F, the fleece liners are removable for drying, and there are different colors. Pricey, but they last forever if you treat the leather every now and then.

Then there is the work glove route, Kinco's insulated gloves are inexpensive, and good down to 20F, with nice reflective bands. Treating the pigskin helps with wear and water.

I found these hunting mittens at Gander Mountain, I had to order from their website to get my size, but they are great.

Not only do they have silk glove liner inside the pop up mitten, the thumb folds back, and there is a pocket for a hand warmer as well. It's really hard to beat them, the clasps to hold the mitten and thumb open are magnetic and of course they are high vis. I love them for commuting here in Kalamazoo.

Nice hunting mitts! Here's another warm idea from U.P. Michigan: Trail's Edge Moose Mitts (for flat bars).

"Lobster Mitts", as I understand, are most generally considered to allow the first and middle finger in one pocket and the ring and pinky in another.

The one that you have a picture of is like the military surplus "Sniper, Trigger Finger" things. I just bought a pair, shells and liner, for <$13.00 with shipping.

Do they work? How am I supposed to know? I live in Georgia. It was in the high 30s and I rode with just the shells (they have a bit of insulation). Couldn't tell it was cool outside. I'm sure that the wool liners will cover me through the Georgia "winter".

I see why they make the "Lobster" style mitts. It would be more natural than the trigger finger only. I've already got used to the index finger only style, but it took a ride or two. I never realized that it would matter until I rode with only the index finger separate. No problem now.
