My wife rescued me from the rain yesterday afternoon. We had more on than off scattered thunderstorms between 4 and 6pm.

A bit cool this morning at 50F. I went with the short sleeve shirt anyway though as it will get up to 70. Enjoyed the ride.

I'm missing out on some great commuting weather this week! The wife is off on a business trip so I am resigned to driving...all bc of my dogs. I don't want to have to make them wait an extra hour to go out...of course, I may just give in tomorrow and hop on the Peugeot. To make up for it..I'm gonna try fro mon-thurs next week all on the bike

Schizo weather - ride home yesterday started cloudy and windy, then rain, then hail, then rain, then... This morning it was 42F but at least it's sunny. High wind advisory for this afternoon - should be interesting!

Nice commute this morning with clear skies and a light tailwind much of the way, but the roads were still very wet from thunderstorms last night. I rode my CX bike with no fenders, and in retrospect should have taken my touring bike with fenders. Roads should be dry this afternoon and I might take the long way home.

I took a rest day on Monday after riding about 250 miles the previous 5 days, including 105 miles on Saturday. It turned out to be a great day to drive because thunderstorms started popping up mid-afternoon and I would have gotten a good soaking if I had ridden.

Nice ride this morning but MUCH cooler at about 44 degrees. I opted for the thin tights over my bike shorts, and thin wind shell over short sleeve jersey, and long finger gloves. Brought my half finger gloves with me, so I can ride home in the normal shorts, jersey and half finger gloves. Should be 70 with a tail wind this afternoon.

First commute of the year, way behind the curve. Also first commute to our new office. Traded in the old 30 mile r/t for a 15 mile r/t. Hopefully makes my commuting a bit more manageable.

A coworker took her first ride in today; she is planning on joining in Bike Month. She expressed shock at how easy it was. She was prepared to be sweaty and miserable, but it took her twenty minutes. Her ride home is uphill and might take five minutes longer and will be in the heat... I didn't mention that, don't want to be discouraging. Since she is working with a dress code that tends toward slacks and nice shoes, that might be her hurdle.

Lucky! Man if I could cut my 31 mile RT in half I could commute all 5 days a week!

Just got a new saddle in today that I ordered last week, gonna try it out on the ride home. I went around the block a couple of times, making small adjustments, but I'm wearing jeans right now so that's not a very good indicator of how it will feel. I can stop and make quick adjustments on the way home if need be.

Today was 16°C and sunny. I left home at13 to reach the train station. Along the street one driver rang to methen he stopped the car and whe had a discussion. In him opinion Imust ride on the sidewalk.
In late afternoon I returned home by the train station.

What a great ride in. New tires are like a hot knife through butter. Already averaging 2-3 MPH faster with what feels like less effort and this is with headwind and a heavier than normal load. Weather was great too sunny and 67.

Fine and mellow.

25 mph winds with gusts up to 40. I rode as carefully as possible. I think the wind gusts got my heart rate up higher than riding in snow storms this winter.

winds were crazy strong yesterday. also had buckets of rain fall on me. thank goodness for the SKS raceblade fenders. they work like a charm.

a police golf cart honked at me on the brooklyn bridge. only to speed up then make a three point turn so he could park in the pedestrian lane. he sped by me, literally "buzzed" me in the bike path (which is not open to motor vehicles btw), only to have me pass him seconds later. it was beyond silly. he was late for his post, this much was clear.

also far less cyclists on the road made for a VERY sketchy commute. motorists clipping me out of the cycling lane more than once. the wind blowing me around.

still better than the subway.

today was far better, weather wise and traffic wise. looking forward to the commute home :). get out there!

Yesterday was insane I had to go up to the Bronx so I needed to take the subway. Can't say I missed riding in the rain. However yeah bike is still better than the subway.

What the hell is going with the NYPD and the Brooklyn Bridge. I assumed by now they would have moved on. You know between them, the upcoming construction which is going to reduce the bridge to one shared pedestrian and bicycle lane as well as the tourists you'd be better offer taking the Manhattan bridge. Trust me it's a better ride.

Judging by some of my fellow commuters (not anyone on this board, of course), I wonder how it is that so many people have no clue how to stop and start a bike. I see riders coasting up to intersections, and then staying in the saddle, trying to balance on tippy toes during the red. When the light turns green, they shuffle-shuffle en pointe (can't be good for the shoes), and try to put both feet on the pedals at the same time. A couple riders wobbled so much I was concerned they'd fall into traffic.

Super-windy today. Or is it just that every spring is super-windy, and I've been oblivious to it until this year?

I suspect it's a phenomenon that is strongest here in America -- cycling has spent so much time being marginally popular at best, that lots of people never had good teachers, and revert back to childhood habits when trying to pick it up again as adults. It sounds judge-y no matter how I try to word it, but I think our culture and various influences deserve more "blame" than I'm trying to put on any one person.

Cool 45F this morning, but sunny and clear. I did wear a long sleeve shirt for an extra layer. Nuttin' too exciting to report other than a nice ride in.

Wondering that myself.. although I started last year around May this year was March. Still don't remember the strong winds last year.

Cold this morning! 38 degrees by the bank. My ears actually got cold for the first time, putting that on my list for winter. The wind felt like it was out of NE but that's okay on the ride in not as many hills.

no i think they (NYPD at that locale) are getting tons of flack for letting those "artists" switch out the American flag for a white one. ever since that happened they've been patrolling the bridge. now they drive these golf carts and sit on the bridge. the problem is, there is absolutely no room for them. there is barely enough room for the pedestrians and cyclists who go thru there.

the construction has already reduced the bridge to one lane at the lookout points. there's no where to look out, only travel thru.

i take the Brooklyn in the morning b/c it's relatively empty, and the Manhattan in the afternoon. using the Manhattan adds about .8 mile to my route. it's fine, but in the morning, i just need to get to work.

the entrance to Manhattan from Jay St is sketchy. no protected lanes and cars drive into it.

i hate Jay St these days. when are they going to make Adams St/Boreum Pl something with bike lanes? there are already 4 car lanes it's a little ridiculous they don't have a bike lane there and squash bikes into the crazy drivers onto Jay St. they really should make Jay St a pedestrian plaza and do away with travel thru there. there are just too many people on foot.

Yep, 38F when I left my house too. However, not a bad tailwind in from the northland. Winds are still supposed to be from the north for the ride home, but fairly light.

Chilly morning for this time of year in NC, with temps in the upper 40s. Sunny skies and should be a beautiful day with afternoon temps in the 70s.

I took the long way home Tuesday along the greenways, for a 31-mile afternoon commute and 46 miles round trip on the day. It was a great day for a long commute with sunny skies and temps about 70 F. The leaves are mostly out now and dogwoods and other trees and shrubs still flowering. As soon as the days get a little longer and warmer, I might tackle my first metric commute by taking the greenways in the morning and afternoon.
