Dropped off the car at the repair shop and then commuted to work from there. The receptionist at the shop asked if I had arranged for a ride to work, and I said "yes... my bike". She looked at me a little strange and then said "well, that's a new one".
Mileage was almost the same as my normal commute. A little chilly this morning at 46F and strong winds. |
63 degrees and Humid today. Good ride in this morning! 80 or degrees on the ride home. Have to hustle to make a meeting in another town.
|
Fantastic. Rainy, but back on my cross bike because I received the serviced BB back so could ride it with the cranks turning in a single plane and the chain staying on. Those 35mm tires are so cushy.

Headwind
|
Humidity spiked this morning but other than that my 20 mile commute (about 1.5 hours) was relaxing change to driving in. Looks like it may be a wet and stormy ride home, but I don't care, whatever doesn't kill you makes you stronger. :)

On these days that I ride before working from my own basement, I think I need to get an earlier start. One road on my favourite route has a couple schools along it, and if I leave too late, it's thick with mommy traffic, most driving minivans or luxury crossovers. Couple close passes and got cut off once, but wasn't a big deal.
The city is greening up nice, but it was a chilly ride - only 3C/37F when I left the house. |
headwind but not bad. It rained for about 5-10 mins, enough to get me soaked, sans raingear. No biggie.

Today's commute from my house to my home office was funny (at least I think so). I got up at 6:00 and it was around 55F, rained over night, so I thought I'll wait to ride until it warms up and dries off. So I started working away and got ready to ride at 10:00. Temps dropped to around 45F and it started raining lightly. Best laid plans of mice and men....
Great ride, never the less, I've got a gravel century on Saturday (Almanzo 100). I know the ride has some steep climbs on gravel roads, so my "commute" took me up some of the steepest climbs in my area and focus on staying in the saddle and spinning up the steep climbs. 2,200 feet of climbing in 28.5 miles. Not bad for Minneapolis - AKA flatland. Footnote, my summer gloves were a poor choice, my finger tips were number for about an hour after I got home. It's challenging to operate the keyboard and mouse with numb finger tips. |

I had a nice uneventful commute this morning. The temp was 50f degrees with clouds and fog and mist.
|
Back in the saddle again felt great. A bit chilly on the way down but perfect on the way up. Doc gave me a inhaler yesterday thought it may be allergic reaction. Talk about :twitchy: after those 2 puffs!

Like summer today, hot and humid. Temps close to 70 F on the morning leg and supposed to hit 90 this afternoon. Very humid, tropical air left over from Ana, and I was completely drenched from sweat by the time I reached work. Cold front supposed to pass through this afternoon or tonight, which should cool down temps and lower the humidity for the rest of the work week.

My weather is the same as tarwheel's today. I left a little early and got a couple of extra miles in this morning - 15 total. We have a little janitorial closet that I'll use to hang up any damp clothing to dry during the day. There are four guys here who sometimes ride their motorcycles to work. When they do, they'll hang their black leather jackets in the same closet. Today they all did, so the close has 4 black leather jackets and one pair of black lycra shorts. Ha!

great ride home last night. Check out this video! It was released last week. pretty excited to be encouraging a company to think about bike commuting for workers. :) |
Well no riding yesterday or today. Yesterday I didn't because the wife and I had a function after work. Glad I drove...on the way home I encountered the wrath of mother nature....rain so strong I couldn't see the hood of my car, winds picked up to 60 mph and then the hail started.
The 11 o'clock news last night was calling for more severe storms this afternoon |
 I was almost run down by my boss.
One of those days where the commute is a dream. Clear skies, beautiful temperature, nice headwinds...a day to die for. And, I almost did--the lady who owns the company almost plowed me down with her Escalade. It was one of those deals in an office park where the intersection has a yield sign instead of a stop. I saw her vehicle approach the intersection, and I didn't pay it much attention since I was on the main thoroughfare which had right of way, and I expected her to stop. What I failed to take into account was that I was in her blind spot the whole time (we never made eye contact). I broke a cardinal rule there. I also forgot that the interaction was a yield. She, of course, did not see me and kept rolling. The result is she almost T-boned me. I swerved just in time and she hit the brakes instead of the gas. Irony is this is the closest I've ever come to being hit. |

Winds for the ride last night were brutal. It wasn't even a pure headwind, but it was strong enough that it felt like it was swirling from every direction. Much nicer this morning. A little cool (44F), but light winds, clear skies!

Pretty glorious ride this morning under sunny skies and nary a breath of wind.

40F on May 12, what the WHAT?!? When, oh when, can I put away my winter bike gear?!? At least I didn't need the fatbike or the studded tires.
I wanted to get donuts for the office - this is my last day going to the office. Two people in my office cannot have gluten and another one is vegan. There's a cafe that makes gluten-free, vegan donuts, but its 15 miles out of the way. But I'm a nice guy (and I love biking), so 32 miles later.... https://scontent-ord.xx.fbcdn.net/hp...74&oe=55C0D8C8 One woman said that this is her first donut in 6 years. |
Woah, 51F this morning - where did Spring go? Windy and it's picking up. Something felt off this morning and figured out during a morning meeting, forgot to shave. Must have cost me at least 20 or 30 milliseconds
|
Crappiest ride in a while. I was battling head wind all the way to work today, struggling to maintain 10 mph and getting blown sideways periodically. To add to the misery, I was buzzed by 3 SUVs today, each one within half a foot - I thought my lane positioning was fine, but maybe I need to be left of center in that stretch. And finally, when I reached work, my VPN password had expired.
.... I'm sorry I only post in this thread when I need to vent. My commute is pretty uneventful usually, not much to report. |
