Parts for an old Cateye

I have just had an old Cateye ATC CC-8000 computer given to me. Problem is, it's just the base unit. No mount bracket and sensor. Searching has indicated that in it's day it was regarded as a good computer with some unique functions. No luck on parts however. E-Bay and Amazon have been no help. Anyone have suggestions on where I might find such?

I suspect that you might be in for some disappointment - it's not impossible that someone has the appropriate mounting bits for the bike computer they used 20 years ago stashed away in a box of [strike]junk[/strike]miscellaneous parts, but the odds of them being listed on Ebay are pretty much nil.

The best thing I can think to do is to measure the base of the computer (the part that slides into the mounting bracket) and post those dimensions on this forum along with a picture, maybe somebody here has the compatible part and will send it to you for the cost of shipping. I would post that information in this thread since it's already started, and in the "ISO and For Trade" thread that's stickied in C&V. Good luck.

I will. Just got it. Assumed they would be closed on the weekend.

I'm afraid it may be difficult to match up. Found pics of what I believe is the previous model, cc-7000, and the unit looks entirely different. I've read that the wire that connects the sensor to the base unit is a "heavy" wire.

The sum of the parts is far greater than the cost of the total device. It would save a lot of time and probably money, in the end, to buy something complete off of eBarf for twenty bucks.

Not all freebies equal to a good deal.

Cateye lists Archived computers on their site, for which parts may be available. The cc-8000 is not one of the listed computers.

gj, I agree completely. I have no intention of chucking too much money at this.
Janmm, I had looked at their site and noticed that.
This may be a dead end. Though I would ask around though.

Cats with Lasik! Who knew?

I admit that was a terrible joke.

cateye ATB cc-8000

Hello downwinded,

I have a complete mount bracket to the cc-8000 and until recently I also had the computer but I lost it during a trip.

I you still have the computer I would be very interested in buying it.

I'm pretty sure I can lay my hands on it. Not home at the moment. I'll check this weekend and let you know.
