Lonesome on the bike this morning. Maybe the drop from 68 degrees last weekend to 22 this morning had some bearing on the matter?
What's next? Monday's a holiday, it's supposed to snow Monday night, and one of the agreements I have with She Who Must Be Obeyed is I don't bike when there's snow on the ground. Do I give up an evening commute to take the spare car home tonight, or do I give up a weekend ride to swing by work and pick up the car? Decisions, decisions...

It was warmer than yesterday which was -2F before wind, today it was 9F when I left. It will probably be around 15F when I leave.

Today, Friday the 13th was a little cooler then normal at - 28 Celsius, (- 18.4 Fahrenheit). My 23 year old 8 speed winter bike carried me the 8.4 kilometers to work without shifting issues, ( I tried a fixed gear bike and you can have it). Today like most days I do not need to register on a ride to work winter site because that is just what I do. It is no big deal, really. It would be like having a "Wear your underwear to work day". Maybe to some it would require a extra special commitment but not to me.

Where do I sign up for that one?
Note: I didn't sign up for Winter Bike to Work Day, because, being in California, where it's supposed to get to the 70s today, well, it's not exactly a challenge, now is it?

I rode. I ride pretty much every day, and thanks to the drought there's been very little need for fenders this winter. Current conditions in Sactown:

Great ride in today. It started at 12F and has warmed up to about 25F. The mid 20's are great for riding. I find it easy to regulate my body temp at that outside temp.
The wind is picking up however. It is supposed to be 20 MPH headwind on my ride home

Nice! 70 riders from Olympia/Thurston county. Quite good representation! Is Portland the biking capitol of the Pacific Northwest? With all 7 riders that committed?

O.k so back home now. The ride coming home was more enjoyable than going to work this morning. It was windy but I didn’t bother me for some reason I had fun coming home, Some ladies stopped at the traffic light even waved at me, I though that was nice.
My average speed was 13 MPH and my job site is 9 miles from home. now to enjoy my weekend!

It's going to be too hot to ride home, I brought my stuff in a backpack and I don't think it will hold my coat on top of everything else I am toting.

I do ride everyday, I did sign up. But I hope me signing up provides data to them on just how many people are riding. Or maybe I will just get a ton of credit card offers in the mail....

I rode! Didn't manage to get anyone else in my area to sign up, but maybe some of them rode anyway.

Minus 12 and snowing when I got home at 1700.
Stopped at LBS on the way home. Owner and Emplyees drove - tha whimps! Gave heck.
15 Km round trip. Great day!

Since the forecast is looking bad, I took advantage of the sunshine today and rode. Didn't sign up but no biggie. 16F when I left home. Fridays are usually light traffic and this morning was no exception. However, a pickup truck backed out of an alley in front of me so close I had to brake hard. Actually the closest call I've had in months. About 3 blocks later a car overtaking me ( guess I was not taking enough of the lane) squeezed between me and on oncoming vehicle. The car behind the one that passed me gave me plenty of room but then right hooked me close enough that again I had to brake. It's the most eventful (in a negative way) commute I have had in a long time. Told you about Friday the 13th.

Even though I wimped out today, I did take 20 minutes out of my lunch at work and rode my beater bike outside even though the roads were snow and ice covered and the Friday traffic was bad. I had fun at lunch!

10F this morning but little wind after a light dusting of snow overnight. Mid 20sF on the way home this evening. Not bad winter riding weather.

I rode to work today like every other day, but don't earn any brownie points as it was sunny and 60 deg.

Darn it, I didn't know about it to sign up, but I did ride. It was a balmy 26F yesterday. Oh well next year. It made me feel less eccentric to see all the others on the map.
