Winter's done after tomorrow. Sprinter is upon us.
Today is chilly and tomorrow will be too. After that it warms up. 40's all next week. Maybe one more below 0 commute this season and that should be it.
We're entering the shoulder season of "Sprinter". Warmer days punctuated with sporadic snow storms. Hope to be back on the fixie next week. We don't get much in the way of Spring. It's Sprinter, then Sprummer. |
Yesterday afternoon we had freezing rain and snow. By the time I got home from work my clothing was covered in ice and so was my bike. I wouldn't be surprised if there is one more big snowfall in March.

F this winter. :D

I want some of whatever you are smoking..................

We got a half-inch of sleet and then 10-12" of snow last night. Really tired of this winter.:deadhorse:
|
Tjspiel, I'm feeling happy too! I think I might have just finished my last sub-zero ride of the year. The bad news is, like you said, now comes the possibility of big snow dumps. And I'd rather ride in cold than fresh snow any day. Still, next week will be pure joy!
|
Took my car in for repair this morning but -9 was too cold for me to ride my bike the 2 miles home, so hitched a ride with my wife. I will bike in to pick up the car this afternoon if it's ready. Guess I have to get with the program - next fall. Can't wait for us to spring into Sprummer.

We Twins Cities folks won the winter weather lottery this year. Great for commuters, lame for snow lovers and snow trail riding but that's ok there will always be another winter next year.
Looks like were going get an early start on gravel season. I'm excited to ride in less clothing. |
We are having a mild winter out west. However that may mean a very dry summer and a rough water year. Oregon has experience its warmest febuerary ever and is working on the warmest winter to date.
|
We do a lot of weather in the "how was your commute" thread, but for the record, we haven't had a proper winter here in Sacramento this year. The snow pack survey was something like 19% of normal. We are in deep doo-doo
|
We have Sprinter in NYC as well except its has a quite different definition; we get a nice steady leadout train of weather gradually rising to 40, 50, 60 degrees and then in a blink of an eye its all over and we're in the 90's with matching humidity.
|
-4 this morning, 17 this afternoon. Forecast 0/15 Friday, then after that 28 at night, 40-50 in the afternoon, as far out as the forecasts go.
So yeah, fingers crossed that I'll be able to switch back to the road bike in a week or two when the threat of ice on the roads is gone. |

86 here today in Florida,, but windy:lol:

Yesterday I did a 20 mile ride after work at midnight in a T shirt. Maybe you guys should move south :D
Knocked it out in an hour too, on a route with a lot of hills and lights. |
Shut up, you guys. We have snow falling fairly heavily, and it may add up to six inches. I'm singing in a concert tonight, and I expect our audience to be smaller than the ensemble (28 singers) because of the weather. For once, I believe we are getting more snow here in NYC than Boston is getting today.

This has been my worst winter for commuting ever. I think I've only got like 5 days. Normally it's at least 2-3 a week, but when it's under 10 degrees every morning or snow/ice, I lose will power, and each time I give up, I lose more core, making the next ride that much harder.

It's ~55-60 today, clear skies. Wind under 5 mph. Lovely.
Last week it was ~freezing though. Every time I celebrate spring, we get another cold snap, dammit. Yes, yes, freezing isn't that bad. I've lived in high altitude mountain valleys, I know what real winter is. That's one reason I live in Texas. But freezing is annoying because I still haven't bought any winter cycling gear-we generally only have a week or two near that temperature. |
