Karma is gonna slap me...

... For all the good luck i've had in the last 12hrs.

I'll start with the non-commuting related stuff. My sister and brother in law are coming up here over memorial day so we've been looking for Red Sox/Yankees tix for under $100. Not having much luck either. We weren't particularly concerned as it's still 1 1/2mo. away, and if we can't go it's no big deal. Anyway, i was on the phone with her last night and we were talking about it when one of her co-workers overheard us talking about it and said 'My cousin, *name withheld*, plays for them, let me give him a call.' Well, when all of this was happening the Red Sox were in the process of smacking Randy Johnson around, so she didn't talk to him until late last night. First thing this morning i have an email from my sister, and we have four free tickets to the game. Hot damn, somebody loves me!

Good stuff part two: My gf makes the best pot roast, pretty much ever. She made some up last night, so i can have it for lunch. Bless the woman, for she can cook!

Then, during this morning's commute down CPW, i'm at about 90th st. and get dive bombed by a very agressive cab, honking, just generall being a jerk. I'm not blocking traffic or anything, it's two lanes there, i'm about 1/3 of the way out into the far right lane, just enough not to get doored. Problem for the cabbie was a marked cop car was waiting at the red to turn south on CPW and was not amused with his antics. I'm actually kinda used to it, but the cop was pissed. Pulls over the cabbie, waves me over and starts to write him a ticket, i'm not sure exactly what for (reckless endangerment or something?). The cop gets my statement (i was just biking along, no previous encounter, not much to my story) and then starts talking to the cabbie. I decided to hang out a minute to hear what the cabbie has to say, and he start off yelling that i should be in the bike lane, not in the road. For those of you unfamilliar with CPW, the bike lane only runs north, there is no bike lane south, and it's illegal to travel south in the bike lane (against traffic). The cop deadpans to the cabbie 'So, you often drive on the wrong side of the street?' Cabbie had no idea what the hell was going on, and took a good 20 seconds to realize what the cop meant. After that he shut up and took the ticket while made my leave of the cop and proceeded in to work. Even got here early.

Now i'm just waiting for the other shoe to drop. I'm guessing i'll be dead by 5pm.

This is the a little bit of the good you have previously spread to others finding its way back to you. Enjoy it and sew more good, some of it will surely hit your pedling comrades out here on the BF.

Pot Roast...ummmmmmmm (with little carots, onions, and taters, I hope)

It's nice to read positive stuff. Loved the stories and I'm hoping you're not dead by 5, I'm looking forward to more tales.

First off, I love a good pot roast. Whenever I make it, it provides me with lunch for several days. Yum!!

It's good to know that there are cops who are interested in protecting cyclists and know the rules regarding bikes on the road Kudos to this cop!

Hope your luck continues, Ubie.

That's much too harsh. Karma is the universe's sense of irony. The Yankees/BoSox game will be cancelled in deference to a huge traffic smash-up (no injuries) caused by a bicyclist who, driven mad the smell of a pot roast wafting in the spring air, rides on the wrong side of Jerome Ave. and smashes into a cab. The bicyclist, of course, will be cited.

This IS the other shoe. You said you're used to cabbies acting like jerks, here's karma making up for the normal day-to-day crap.

Sounds like this cabbie finally got his and really has little to do with you. Think how many times this driver has pulled this crap with other riders. I doubt if it will change the guys mind about cyclists, but maybe from now on he'll just mind his own business.

Karma must be balanced. In your case, the cabbie generated lots of bad Karma. You happened to be in the right place to catch some of the good Karma he threw away. Hope the cop caught some of that good Karma too.
