You could run errands on the way from work with that bike, but they'd have to be pretty quick. Dash into the grocery store to pick up a loaf of bread, swing by the dry-cleaner's, mail off a letter - no problemo. A two-hour dental appointment - hmmm, yeah, not so much, I'd be a little apprehensive.

Bikes: It's the motor, not the bike, right?
I think the absolute perfect commuting bike for Portland is a titanium cross bike with disc brakes, in my opinion. Bulletproof, not as much of a thief magnet as you might think, and a blast to ride. If you're willing to go the bikesdirect route, you could get one for half what you'd pay for this bike.

I've locked up my carbon bike for an hour or so before outside. It was 100% fine. Granted, I could see it from the window of the cafe, but any potential thieves didn't know that. No one even so much as gave it a second look. If the OP can bring it inside at home and work, I can't imagine he would have any problems with it for a quick errand.
Now, this bike I could probably leave unlocked with a $5 bill attached to it and no one would touch it

Not every one doesn't trust a good lock or two, as thieves will go for the easiest target, not necessarily the nicest bike

OP said he/she plans to ride and lock it securely at the office. This is IDEAL for a mid to high end bike. Ideal, like jump all over it because you can ride a really nice bike to work and not have to worry about locking it up outside. Radical thought I know.

Bikes: A bunch of old bikes and a few new ones
No one said that wasn't a great commuter. That's really up to the OP to decide. What the OP asked was for the list to discuss what they thought about it. That is the only negative that I could think of and the OP may well decide that this is not a negative. My guess is that we're not really disagreeing that much on this bike.

Bikes: Kuota Ksano. Litespeed T5 gravel - brilliant!
I wouldn't want to leave it the same place, out of sight, for much time. Not with all those expensive components hanging from it. Not if it were in my cubicle, office, or the security office. Leaving something like the bike the OP posted in Portland OR out of sight even briefly is inviting trouble.
I once lost my roof rack bike tray while parked in front of a bike manufacturer's offices. Same thing. Everyone knows the car and walks around with allen keys in their pockets. Haha.

One on each foot like rollerskates and a third towed behind? Or do you have them welded together like a team of chariot horses?

He's a fan, never misses a chance to pimp them. He'll be suggesting the OP get a Rohloff hub with a Schlumpf drive next.
