Cyclocross and Gravelbiking (Recreational) This has to be the most physically intense sport ever invented. It's high speed bicycle racing on a short off road course or riding the off pavement rides on gravel like : "Unbound Gravel". We also have a dedicated Racing forum for the Cyclocross Hard Core Racers.

Added a CAADX to the stable.

Added a CAADX to the stable.

I haven't ridden it much yet, but it seems like it's going to be a fine multi-purpose bike. Gravel bike, winter road bike, bike trainer bike.

Fills a niche for me that I've been struggling to satisfy with the bikes I have. The CAADX is going to let me get rid of two of those which is nice because I have limited room for bikes.

You're going to have fun with it!

I also have a CAADX that I got this year. They seem to be one of the best all-around bikes I've ever owned. I use mine for commuting, graveling, and the ocassional road ride (when I don't feel like riding my '85 Gazelle). I think they're a great "Swiss Army Knife" type of bike.

Awesome, I'm going today to order a 2015 rival. It seems like a good deal as its last year's model. Althought I can only get it in a 54cm. I have a Caad10 in 56cm so it should be good.

There's not a huge amount of clearance at the chainstays. I've read comments from people using 40's, and just looking, I'd guess that's probably as wide as it can go. Looks like you could go a bit bigger than that in the front. That's without fenders.

I wouldn't go any wider than 40. I have a 2015 caadx and love it. Great bike my everyday bike. Anyways i got 40 for winter and 32 slicks for summer but no fenders either.

clearance on a 2014 CAADX with Clement X'Plor MSO 40mm tires

I've also run a Specialized Renegade 29 x 1.8, measuring 45mm, on the front;
not enough clearance in the rear

Here's mine. Not a great photo. Maybe I'll take a few pics on my next ride. I got the Sora model, but I have some older Ultegra components and a nicer crankset that I may swap in the future. Still have the gimme pedals on there--not sure what I'm going to replace those with.

So there's mounts for both front and rear caliper brakes?

Hmmm, not sure about that. I think the mounting holes you may be referring to are for fenders, not brake calipers.

The hole in the fork crown is ~70mm above the rim, and the hole in the seat stay bridge is 60mm above and vertical.

Ah, yeah that would make way more sense. How big of a tire can you fit with fenders?
