I realize p. 77 isn't optimal to make this request, but it would be really interesting to know the locations of many of these rides.

Bovine Classic (Feisty version) in Atascadero on Saturday. A hard ride in beautiful Central Coast wine country. The event was excellent, and the scenery was spectacular.

Took a break from the gravel/trail bike this weekend to get some road bike rides in before it snows. This bridge was decorated nicely for Remembrance Day.
P.S. gravel trail in the distance so there you go…

There's gravel under those leaves, I promise. 72 miles on the hardtail on everything, mostly gravel, some dirt, grass, a little mud and wood chips, and some pavement to make connections.

Since a number of us ride in Big Basin State Park (CA), I thought this might be of interest. It shows how the redwoods are recovering after the Aug 2020 CZU fire:

def. prefer hardpacked dirt w/ just a little gravel for good measure
but sometimes bombing down a loose gravel slope is fun. was hoping to catch some air, but sadly, this fat old man just rolled over the rock

Saturday’s ride in my local mountains. It was a spectacular day, and a good ride on roads I haven’t been on in 20+ years.

I was without this bike for two weeks and missed some good trail riding before the snow comes. Thankfully I got out today and the trails are in good shape.

Short ride on my local trails, in the hills above my house, taking it easy-ish on a strained muscle in my thigh. Swapped -6 stem for -17. I think I like it.

It’s mid-December here in Toronto area (1hr north) and I’m riding the multi-use trails again. They’re in perfect condition. Last year we already had snow and I was road only until April. Getting out as much as I can.

Started 30 minutes before sunrise. My front light was good (1200 lumens) and it helped that I know the flow of the trails. Was cold though (feels like -7C). But dry!
This is the definition of a “cutty” trail in my town. Factory on the right, fenced in, houses left, this 1km trail leads to a multi-use trail.

From northwest of Toronto…2 - 4 Celsius, no wind, very dry conditions. Might be best mixed surface ride of the year (and it’s nearly Christmas). Crazy. Base layer and LS jersey, leg warmers, thin booties and skull cap.
Three sections of single track (1-2km each, rode in and out), a bunch of double track and paved paths and road’s connecting it all. Plus a 1km gravel road climb and then descent, maxing out at 21%.

[x-posted with folding bikes]
The Bike Friday is ostensibly a folding gravel bike, and it works great there, but with the chunky 20 x 2.4" tires I could not help but try some trails with it.

Last ride (and day) of 2023. 40k mixed surface ride at below 0C, thankfully no wind and dry conditions. Crazy year for the planet though, hoping 2024 is better.

Ignored the winter storm warning the other day in order to go hit my favorite local road climb and then do some logging roads. Started out as dry and a bit chilly, ended up blowing snow and really cold.
