Midsouth 2024. Perfect weather, perfect 100 miles of Oklahoma dirt and gravel roads. Just a really fun and well-run event.

looked like an awesome ride … although 100 miles on gravel and dirt gotta be a challenge

hmmm … in above pic - not able to use the adjacent bridge to cross the creek ?

haha yeah, there were lots of folks trying it. I stood there for awhile and watched. Probably about a 50/50 success rate. Super fun.

That was a fence, only way was through it, which lots of people tried or walking the bike around. The trail continues up to the right.

Another ride today, with a mileage/elevation gain above the golden ratio. This will all be underneath a blanket of snow tomorrow:

Took a gamble on the weather yesterday and it ended up being a wet and grimy day out on the bike...

I'm running a Thundero 40 in the back and Swampero 40 in the front. I like them a LOT!! My favorite tires, so far. I'm playing around with the idea of trying 48mm Thunderos on both ends, but haven't pulled the trigger yet.

New wheels and tires for the Fargo.

Hope Pro 5 laced to Stans Arch. I notice the difference in how smooth the hub is compared to stock wheels, feels like I have more forward momentum, especially on descents. Tires are set up tubeless, a lot boxier than the Sparwood. They corner much better and thus I’m railing corners and having more fun (less tentative). Climbing on loose gravel also means no more rear tire slip. A little slower on pavement but this bike is for 80%+ unpaved.

In the winter I may put studded tires on the old wheels, add fenders, and try to be 100% outdoor (hate the trainer).

Last night a coyote crossed my path. We locked eyes for a moment before giving each other a respectful nod. He continued along into the brush while I rode off into the sunset. It was a nice moment...

Pre-planting central Iowa.
Some doubletrack and gravel with a dose of field burning thrown in.
