Look X-track pedals - review

I just purchased and installed these pedals on my new gravel bike:

Comparing them to my Shimano XT and XTR pedals, I will say that these seem to give my feet a lot more contact area. And the engagement/disengagement seems to be more positive than the Shimanos (of course, they're still new I guess). To be honest, I just wanted to try something new and I really liked their look (pardon the pun). It was pretty darn difficult to find the carbon ti ones but I finally got my hand on a pair. They look to be extremely well-made. Even the base X-track ones look to be well built. Happy so far... The biggest plus is that they are SPD compatible and work perfectly with the SPD cleats already on my shoes...

Nice. Good weight savings over XTR. I will be interested to hear how the Ti spindle holds up.

I switched to the Look X-Track pedals to replace my ageing (and now discontinued) Speedplay Frogs.

I have both the base X-Track and the Race versions on my gravel and mountain bikes. Like the OP, I find the contact area to be better than Shimano (and WAY better than the Frogs). After about two years all the pedals seem to be holding up well. While I don't ride a lot in muddy conditions, I can say that these pedals work well in the snow. I've not tried the more expensive Carbon or Ti versions, but the base version at only US$55 is a steal.
