Quill Stem

Any specific cross recommendations for a quill stem. I picked up an older used cross frame to get started with.

Just a good ol' road stem or something else?

Thanks

If you have a short steer tube then the quill length on the Profile H20 may be too long if you don't want a bunch of stem height. My LBS had some ICON Graphite quills that have a nice short quill; I bought both 90x73 they had. There's also a brand called Dimension that makes a decent quill that is distributed through QBP (Quality Bike Products). I think the same manufacturer the makes that Dimension quill stems also OEM for a bunch of premium brands (like Bianchi) too. Of course, these all have the convenient open face design so you can try out different rises and lengths to dial your cockpit perfectly. The Salsa S.U.L.s look really nice too but I've haven't found many places that sell them. The DEDA Murex looks good too but doesn't seem beefy enough for cross; but of course looks can be deceiving.

I built up the used cross frame I bought... here it is ...

anyhow... I am using an old road quill stem I had laying around. The size is fine and fit are fine... but should I be worried about durability? Should I use something more suited for a Mt Bike?

Thanks
