Cyclocross and Gravelbiking (Recreational) This has to be the most physically intense sport ever invented. It's high speed bicycle racing on a short off road course or riding the off pavement rides on gravel like : "Unbound Gravel". We also have a dedicated Racing forum for the Cyclocross Hard Core Racers.

Blue, Bianchi, Redline...best value? Help me decide!

alright...i think i have fit issues worked out. these bikes all fit pretty well. now i just have to choose a bike. this will be my first cx bike...my first foray into cyclocross. i want a decent bike...but i'm not rich so i want a good value. i do NOT want to spend more than $2000.

what's the best value (in your opinion, of course)?

Blue CX6.5 (used, "like new") $1000: double butted 7005 AL frame, aerus carbon fork, carbon seatpost, mavis aksium wheels, chris king headset, 105 groupset, truvativ crankset, avid shorty six, fsa handlebars

Redline Conquest (used, "like new") $650: double butted 6061 AL frame, U6 alloy fork, ritchey road seatpost, ritchey comp road wheel set, steel threadless headset, fsa compact crank, tiagra front derailleur, 105 rear derailleur, tiagra shifter, tektro oryx brakes, tektro rl 726 brake lever, ritchey road comp stem

Redline Conquest Pro (new) $1400: U6 double butted allo frame, carbon fiber fork, fsa carbon wrap seatpost, ritchey pro wheelset, SRAM Rival derailleurs, SRAM Rival brifters, fsa gossamer crank, avid shorty canti', tektro rl 721 brake levers, fsa stem and bar.

Bianchi Axis (new) $1200: Easton 7005 UltraLite Al frame, carbon fork, LX rear derailleur, tiagra front, tiagra brifters, LX compact crank, avid shorty 4 cantis, carbon seat post, Mavic CXP-22 alloy wheelset, Deda Piega bar, alloy stem.

Bianchi Cross Concept (new) $2000: scandium 7000 frame with carbon rear triangle, carbon fork, ultegra rear derailleur, 105 front, 105 brifters, fsa gossamer crank, avid shorty 4 canti's, carbon seatpost, Mavic Aksium, Deda Piega bars.

the MSRP on frame only is $625. their cheapest complete build for the cx6.5 (shimano 105) has a MSRP of $1975...though i hear they can be had for as low as $1600.

as for redline...i cant find their 'team' build anywhere...but i've found several 'pro' builds for sale...

Either of the used bikes would be best value. The Blue frameset retails at 625$, not the bike. Add all those parts on, and it would be a lot more!

Being used and alu for a cross bike I would go new. I don't know the Bianchi but I know the Redline and it is a solid bike built good too. If you have the money or save some since cross season is still far away.
You also get warranty etc.
Good luck.

i am enjoying my conquest pro very much. if you can snag one from randall scott still, that would be really cool. and i think he is doing a constant "sale" at 15% off which yields your 1400 smackaroos. like i mentioned in my thread, chances are it'll be sheeeite when you get it. invest whatever amount your LBS would want for a pro build, and you'll have an excellent quality bike. there's another blue on ebay right now that's up at 455 with 1+ day to go.
