need to build new front wheel
Taco's my front wheel this morning. It is my race wheel.
I have some extra cash and was going to build a new one.
How does this combo look.
CK front hub (high flange) or Phil Wood FSA Front Road Hub (28 or 32H) (they both run about the same $)
Velocity Aerohead
DT swiss comp spokes.
Pretty basic, I know. If you can suggest a better lightweight rim - or a better hub - I would love to hear opinions.

Those are both nice hubs. But the strength of the wheel comes from the spokes and the rim more than the hub. You could get similar performance with a much cheaper hub, such as a Shimano Deore front hub, or even a Tiagra hub. Spend the extra cash on more spokes (36 spokes!) and/or tubulars

DT Swiss 240, Kin Lin TB-25 (tubular rim), Wheelsmith double butted spokes.
Running this combo with 20h, laced radially and so far its been bomb proof. If I break it, I have a spare wheel (same build) and the spokes are cheap to replace.

No way is that basic.
You can get away with just about anything as a front hub. Best value for money is the $30 Ultegra 6500 hub from performance. I've even run a $10 Deore hub from Nashbar with a Salsa Delgado rim and it was superb. Leave the $$$ for the rear wheel.

Since this is the cyclocross forum, I assume you are talking about running an Aerohead on a cyclocross bike. That is a narrow road rim. What size tires are you running? The Synergy is a better choice for cyclocross-width tires.
Big thumbs up for Phil Wood hubs. I *love* mine!

I run Muds. They seem to work great for Oregon Cross.
Ive never ridden the Synergy rim, but am going to look into it.
As far as the hub goes...I think I'll be going with the M770. 150g and I would bet it will do just fine.
Any other rim ideas?
