gary handle bars
anyone use them on their cross bike?I dont like the depth of the drops on most bars.Thanks

People do use dirt drops, but ideally you set them up differently from normal drop bars. Might want a riser stem.

I run the Garys on my Iro and I like them overall. I plan on moving the levers up to a more traditional position soon. I'm not in love with the current placement for longer road rides since I would rather be in the drops more. I do think that the current lever setup is pretty awesome for handling singletrack.
I also agree with that you need a pretty steep stem, either that or you'll need to use a lot of spacers on your steerer.

I agree. Riding on the hoods with this setup is almost useless. I was pretty clueless about off-road drops back when I built the bike up, I've got a better feeling for how I want the levers placed now that I've put some miles on the bike.

I don't like the Garys at all. The bends seriously limit lever placement.
Midges or the newish WTB Dirt Drops are the way to go for shallow, ultra-flared drops.

I used them for a while on my rob roy with a nice riser stem and liked the position. You're in the drops all the time basically, you can climb in the hoods. They provided me with a little too much leverage though so I took them off. I'm selling them and the stem if you're interested.

I second this. While they look similar, the Gary's bend isn't really conducive to having multiple hand positions or riding on the hoods. This is where the On-One Midges shine. With mine, I easily had 4 hand positions that were all comfortable, including the hoods.
