Cyclocross and Gravelbiking (Recreational) This has to be the most physically intense sport ever invented. It's high speed bicycle racing on a short off road course or riding the off pavement rides on gravel like : "Unbound Gravel". We also have a dedicated Racing forum for the Cyclocross Hard Core Racers.

Later on, I realized that aero brifters doesn't work well with old-style long-reach side-pull caliper brakes. So I re-weld those brake pivots, bolt on a set of old Deore LX canti's, do a little this and that, and it goes like this:
I like those wheels. What type are they?

Which one, 26" or 700c?
The 700c's are Rigida/Weinmann DP2000's, laced to Deore front hub and Tiagra rear. Cheap and heavy... but solid enough for drop-offs. And on the MTB are Rigida ZAC2000, laced to old XT front hub and customized Exage rear (I replaced the 7-speed freehub body to accept 8-speed cassette)

The cross bike in road mode.

For the nay-sayers who want to know where the dirt is...

Next season it'll get the tubular treatment with some Easton EA70X's and Tufo tires for racing. For now I'm training and racing road with it.

I don't really have anything to compare it with but I like it for sure. I've laid down the bike plenty of times in the snowstorm we had in December and the fork has yet to show nary a scratch.

Nothing special, just a stock '06 Jamis Nova; added WTB mountain road drops, shimano BB and compact road double, and tektro cr 720 front, plus a thrashed Selle Italia. Answers my needs admirably, even if, as you can tell, the bike might be a tad on the small side for me. Swiss army knife bike for me--with the road wheelset on today.

Been interested in getting a cross bike for awhile so been lurking around the cross forum for a few months and finally finished building up my cross bike project. It is a origin 8 foxtrot frame and fork built up with sram force drive train and kore and race face products. Have been sick so have only took it out for a few short rides but so far I love it. Will be racing it for the next up coming race season.

haven't weighed it with tyres, but sans tyres it's 21 lbs - so it should be 25-26 all in.

spec:

Nashbar: frame, carbon fork, headset spacers, and stem. Chris King: headset. Shimano: UN-72 bottom bracket, XTR M-952 rear derailer, 12-25 HG-70 cassette, HG-93 chain. FSA: 48/38 cyclocross crank. Campagnolo: Centaur front derailer, Centaur brifters and cableset. Avid: Road Disc brakes. Easton: EA30 seat post. Selle Italia: Fokus saddle. Specialized: bottle cage (16 years old!). Ritchey: pedals. Continental: Twister (non-folding) tyres. Salsa: 46 cm Bell Lap handlebars.

wheelset: custom built at my LBS with Deore disc hubs, Sun CR-18 rims and straight-gague DT Swiss spokes.

other: Cinelli tape, generic seat quick release, Jtek Shiftmate and Kenda tubes.

haven't had a chance for a real ride yet, just tooled around the yard, but this is going to be fun!

Nice build
question: Shimano MTB RDs work with Campy Road shifters???

Well, here's mine in total "road mode." Truth be told, I'm only a weekend trail rider, so it's in "road mode" more often than not. This is also a WIP shot; I'd just flipped the stem and the bars aren't completely adjusted yet.

(And no, the stand is not clamped on the frame. It's hanging in the open clamp.)

Hey, nice. I'm thinking about getting a breed to try out racing SS next season. What are your thoughts? Also, is the stock crank SS specific, or just normal 130 BCD?

i've only been riding since oct. 08. i dont know a whole lot about bikes except that i love to ride them, haha. i grew up as a kid riding bmx and dirtbikes, so the idea of a long straight line bores me to no end, and for the urban assault style riding i do....i LOVE this bike.

excited to be apart of the bikeforums community and look forward to learning about all sorts of stuff.

Thanks. I like it enough so far. The only weird thing I've noticed is the rear hub spacing is 135, but that dose open the door for blingy SS mountain bike hubs. The crank is a compact 110 BCD gossamer.
